They are reacting fast now which is comforting. But when we're talking in terms of exponential a month is an incredible amount of time.

I sincerely hope they pull this off. Right now we're down 28-3.

Not fast enough
They should be ordering the manufacture of ventilators, yet they haven't. Every day counts.

Let's not forget the Senate going on recess for the weekend and then playing politics

CAT was let out of the bag in early December. Unfortunately, the WHO did not indicate it was a public health emergency until January 30. If the Chinese spoke up in early on instead of trying keep it contained when their concern was international reputation, this wouldn't be happening now. If they had said anything about the virus at the time we could have taken precautions. No one knew anything about it since it was new - what its properties were, how it goes from person to person, how long does it stay airborne or stick on surfaces, how dangerous it was, etc. You can't just shut the whole country down without knowing more about the virus. The Chinese had studied this thing for weeks and could have told us everything.
They sequenced and shared the genome in a weeks time. It is unprecedented.

Why doesn’t Trump just order a national shut down at this point? We are watching slowly as state by state they are shutting down. If it’s inevitable let’s just do it all at once.

Shutdown (economy going into a possible irrecoverable state) vs. what it is now (more cases but with social distancing and cleanliness that can flatten the curve). I’m going to work everyday. I see how much it has changed and how I’ve changed how I’ve been living. It’s been day and night. We can flatten the curve with the latter, in my opinion. A lot of you have been working at home which is great. That’s good. But first hand, I can tell you everyone is taking this **** very seriously where I work. I’m sure it’s the same everywhere else. We all need to come together. This isn’t about politics.

I’m likely going to lose my job and my father is likely to lose his business or need to lay-off at least 80% of the people that work for him. My brother in law will likely lose his business after they just had a baby daughter, and my brother will also be out of a job soon. The economic fall out is absolutely terrifying and every fiber of my being wants to believe this is mostly mass hysteria and overblown so that we can return to work in a few weeks but there is no denying that it is a major health crisis.

I feel for you and everyone else. This is awful. I hope your company does right by you and keeps you on payroll. I also hope your father can figure it out. This is an unprecedented time. I have a lot of friends in the service industry, so it’s ****ing heartbreaking.

California just went on lockdown. Full statewide.

Just bite the bullet and do it nation wide. That is the only chance we have of it being legitimately effective. It’s inevitable, let’s not wait two more weeks for states to slowly follow. :(

Not at all, I would like to see a different perspective. We may disagree on what to call the virus however I like considering all new information presented for merit.

The problem is, the internet has become an extremely censorious place and truth that most mainstream folks can't handle, gets erased quickly, so unless you are always actively searching for the truth, by the time you revisit the sources, they have been eliminated. Most places get labeled as "fake news" or "conspiracy" or "far-right" so that anyone that tries to warn others get made fun of for being "nut jobs", "alarmists", or "Alex Jones cultists" and other such names due to people's natural tendencies to feel superior by calling others stupid.

I will say up front, I do not follow Alex Jones, nor do I visit sites like 4chan, 8chan because there's way too much garbage to weed through. Usually anything that's any sort of legit from those places simply gets screen capped, and shared. You have to absorb everything and realize that a lot of it is over the top BS, and some of it is true. An open mind is required. A lot of the information comes from random people on discord servers I have no ability to share, invites are far and few between, and only available for very short periods of time. I also can't share a lot because I risk getting kicked and banned from them for talking.

The only somewhat mainstream site I could actually link here, are quarantined subreddits, but again there's a lot of trash to weed through, and an open mind is required.

https://www.reddit.com/r/CoronavirusConspiracy/
https://www.reddit.com/r/Wuhan_Flu/
https://www.reddit.com/r/CoronavirusFOS/

At this point in time, even these places have been a bit compromised by Chinese shill accounts, but not to the degree of the approved subreddits which are censor-central. China owns a $15million stake in reddit, so the admins will bend to the knee of the CCP.

The Administration response could have been better but it also could have been worse.

Tommy I am not posting anything with a political agenda. I just keep looking at the statistics and they're not good.

I think most here who know me will tell you that I'm definitely not a Trump hater.

I'm not an expert or a really smart guy so I'm praying for the best. I really am. I also believe that if anyone can get a late start and defeat this it would be the US. We are a very resilient country.

I can’t agree with the nationwide shutdown for weeks because it has way more negative repercussions than you realize. It should be state by state right now. Like I said, this is unprecedented. It should depend on each state. West Virginia has two documented cases.

Don't know how to validate the source, but if accurate it's nice to see a big jump and hope the trend continues.

I work for a company that only operates in CA, we have some projects that would be considered "essential" but that ****s not gonna last. Thats not important either, collectively we will overcome and I hope for the best.

What you say in this post is somewhat reasonable, that if everyone practices social distancing religiously, there are certain activities that should be ok.

What you were saying in previous posts was not, openly skeptical of the Calif governor's projections. He and his public health scientists are analyzing data that's showing exponential growth. If he says they're on a path for 20 million+ cases, then assume it to be fairly accurate. Accusing him of making a WAG is the height of irresponsibility.

About 4 days if you pay 165.

If the telemedicine doctor decides to prescribe an Everlywell COVID-19 test, the company says it will send the $135 test kit in two days (customers can pay $30 more to receive the kit overnight). The kit comes with a special swab that is long enough to take samples from the back of the nose and throat area, along with instructions for how to seal the swab sample to send it back to the company. People can also provide both spit and sputum samples as backups. (For now, the Food and Drug Administration only validates samples from nasoparyngeal swabs, but companies have applied to test spit and sputum.).

The sample is sent in a pre-paid overnight package, and processed at one of several labs approved by the FDA to perform the test around the country within 72 hours.

Sounds too good to be true. I wonder how accurate they are because a lot of the spreading has been due to false negatives, that turn into positives days after people have been sent home. This virus is a B.

That is just unbelievable imo.

Hope all goes well. Might get real sporty of this is a long term thing,

If they are right, or even in the ball park that is terrifying. If 20 million people from one state got the virus and it kills just under 1% of people we are talking near 2 million dead. That would be a lot nation wide, let alone one state.

And that's just the people who are dying from the virus, not the people dying because they needed emergency care but couldn't get any because hospitals are overrun. That won't be in the millions but it won't be zero either. Just more tragedy around this.
