Harmon Traded to Lions

The Pats’ Cover 1 in recent years often had Harmon deep and McCourty on a tight end. Putting D-Mac back deep and one of their many good cornerbacks in man coverage on the tight end seems like it could be an upgrade at both positions.

A Patriot to be named later? So they're sending two players to Detroit? I would hope it's not still just a late-round pick swap then, unless the player is someone like Deatrich Wise.

No that was a sarcastic tweet from a Detroit sportswriter, there is no "player to be named later"

Man, I will miss Harmon. My favorite play...the interception in Pittsburgh to ice the game 2 years ago.
He certainly had the knack for making the "Let's put the cherry on top to seal up this win" interception.

Yup - I feel that’s the reason JoeJuan Williams was drafted. I could easily see this being the defense when playing KC this year.

I say blow it up and start over

The way I see it with next season up in the air to be cancelled we are better off partially tearing things down. That should give us two drafts before the next time we even play. Stock up on young talent, clear cap space, find a new QB if Stidham sucks and we could soon become competitive again.m

Bill could be playing some chess while other teams are already doling out money to guys who may not play until Fall 2021. Then again we wouldn’t really know, he did nothing last year as well.

Maybe the Patriots should sign Lions free agent safety Tavon Wilson to take Harmon’s place.

He's improved a lot in Detroit, hasn't he?

Yeah, he settled nicely into a box safety role for them, with just shy of 100 tackles last season.

My comment was mostly tongue in cheek since he’d be much more of a Chung replacement than a Harmon one, but it would definitely cause some entertaining posts here.

It looks like they saved $4.25m?

top 10 line? did you not watch how bad our oline suck last year?
And a big potential problem is we won’t have Brady calling out the protections, his knowledge of reading D’s, and putting the line in the best spot possible.

Brady is the best ever at putting his team in its best possible scenario pre-snap. That’s a luxury we won’t have anymore.

they are IMO. if so, trade Gilmore now because his value will never be higher
We probably should to be honest. Snag at least a first rounder out of that for our rebuild.

Been saying this time is now
Then build thru the draft
I wouldn’t have agreed with doing it until we lost Brady but now I’m on board with the championship window closed.
