Good idea in principle, but I’d rather have it as vouchers/food stamps for all and reimbursements or vouchers for basic necessities like rent or mortgage. The idea of writing a 1,000 check to cash is a terrible idea, and children shouldn’t be punished for parents/guardians being irresponsible. They hesitated to shut down the schools in California because millions of kids depend on schools to eat. When I asked why they can’t just subsidized it though money, I was told because the money/food would, never get to the kids.
Yet divorced parents with custody (seemingly virtuous without fail in the eyes of the law) are trusted to spend sometimes thousands of dollars a month in child support on their children (not even taking into account the recipient parent's supposed contribution - they should contribute some too, right?).

You question how that money is spent, or the logic of it all, and you're immediately labeled some kind of immoral radical.

Been trying to keep up with this thread and I do find it interesting that the Trump haters all seem to be Kraft apologists and the people critical of Kraft seem to be conservatives of varying degrees.

Anyone else notice that?

Will this thing affect the general election? Timing wise.

So I'm confused. This thing ends in july if we let it run its course but if we flatten its peak through isolation we have less deaths?

So are we even sure that that many people would die if we didnt flatten the curve compare to not? Is this really as simple as ventilator assistance?

It's a resource issue.

Ends in July or peaks in July?

You would have less deaths because the peak would fall under the capacity of the system that can handle the IC cases instead of overwhelming it like is happening in Italy.

Nobody is sure of anything, except if you do nothing it will be really really bad (i.e. Italy).

Ventilators are in critically short supply to handle a pandemic as are IC hospital beds. I heard an expert say that even if we had 100,000 ventilators, we don't have the staff to operate them.

From the a few articles I've read the death rate can change by a factor of ten if we don't overload the hospitals. In other words we'll see a death rate ten times higher if we all get sick at once and overwhelm our hospitals.

Back to the original point I made: you can’t criticize Trump to this extent and not piss off conservatives, even moderate conservatives. It’s just a fact.

No such thing as a moderate conservative...

Yup, you’re all right wing Nazi nuts, yes? Or, no?

You are either a conservative, moderate, or liberal. Perhaps the poster was trying to say he was a moderate Republican, which is different...

Not true. I'm a moderate conservative.

People can identify or (be) whatever they choose to be. How you see them is another thing. I see myself as independent. You may think you’re all knowing but let’s face it, that person is already president. Trying to peg the pea under three cups is a loser of a shell game.

What a gift you are to us all! Offering "solutions" that people "already are embracing," then calling others "tool" and "little snowflake" when your sanctimonious feathers get ruffled. Tell me RW, because I really am curious: what makes you so entitled? Is it spending your life on this website? Hint: you're no more important than anyone else -- consider that for a dose of "reality."

I proposed a stoppage to the political bashing and complaining. That clearly is your only value-add to the board.

You are now on record as saying you have more skin in the game pertaining to this virus than I and I spend my life here. Way to insult every member of this board without having a clue who is on here and our respective lots in life.

You are truly society's gift to us all.
