I agree with you that this is mass hysteria on an unprecedented scale. But it is also right to be extra cautious. I just worry that the hysteria is snowballing by the minute and it could prove to be worse than the virus itself.
Rather than hysteria I see it as scrambling to play catch-up from being woefully unprepared.
People are seriously going to die, it’s 100% warranted. I’m going to be up all night hoping my mom is able to board home from Italy.

If you are trying to speak of the US specifically, I’d say that the entire world was woefully unprepared for it.
Man we’re having fun here without taking things too seriously. Most posts here are talking out the ass. I know that’s easier said than done though given how many here DO take everything so seriously. This this this. People need to be smart. Take precautions. But hysteria can be dangerous too.
That’s my fear as well. I can’t imagine getting it and potentially having something happen to someone I know/care about. Since you can have it without even showing symptoms, it makes it that much harder to isolate yourself in time. Man... I don’t think I could live with knowing it could have come from me...but that’s just how my morbid mind works.
China was but most other countries literally are weeks ahead of the U.S. in testing. Our government has bungled this crisis badly.
I’d have to agree. And the fact that someone like yourself who has a wife in the healthcare industry who is both at risk and has direct knowledge of this situation only confirms it further.
Yep. My wife is due with our first kid on April 14th and my mother in law flew in a few weeks back from Italy right in the very beginning of outbreak over there. Her husband is still over there and she’s trying not to freak out but it’s getting harder everyday.
