The Tom Brady rumor thread

I heard from my cousin's great grandmother's next door neighbors son's imaginary friend that Brady is taking a real look at the XFL

Through more than three quarters he was on track to being Super Bowl MVP, I'd say that shows promise after his first full season as a starter. The only thing I could guess might give them pause enough to possibly move on is his contract. BTW, you can stop calling Garoppolo "JAG." He's far from being "just a guy" and his middle name is Richard.

You know I respect your opinion Tune but Jimmy is not the guy. I'd rather go with Stidham or Etling for that matter.

Jimmy is "not the guy" why? Because you don't like him off the field? There certainly is not much to dislike about him as a quarterback. In 2019, his first full year as a starter: 69 percent completions, 3,978 yards, 27 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. He was the league's ONLY QB to rank among the top five in completion percentage, pass yards per attempt and passing TDs. Anyone who thinks he couldn't return to New England and similarly thrive under BB and McDaniels has another guess coming.

Off the field and his character is fine. On the field and under pressure he makes poor decisions. I watched him a lot last season and he will not carry a team to a championship even with help. His best game last season was vs the Saints so if you're basing your opinion off of that game I'd understand but if you look at his full body of work it's shaky.

Anyway I don't think he's the next guy so I'd rather see what Stidham has to offer.

If JG ended back on this team I'd support him 100% and without any "I told you so's" . But honestly he's not the guy. Imo.

I wouldn't make that claim based upon the SB. And the Chiefs made it clear what they thought, as well.
Chiefs' Mathieu 'grateful' Shanahan, 49ers stopped running

Chiefs' Frank Clark blasts 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo after 2020 Super Bowl

You'd need a hell of a lot more than what he showed in that game. He was fine when being mostly carried, and he **** himself when he was relied upon. That can happen, and it doesn't mean that the 49ers definitely want to ditch him, but come on, man. Be real when you analyze his play.

His contract is fine. In fact, if they like him as their QBOTF, his contract is great.
You're slamming the door on him for a bad fourth quarter in the Super Bowl while ignoring what he accomplished in just his first full season as NFL starter. He was the league's ONLY QB to rank among the top five in completion percentage, pass yards per attempt and passing TDs. Here's some "real analysis" of his play: quick release, excellent accuracy, good deep thrower, mobile, sees the whole field and generally is a good decision maker save for occasionally forcing the ball into coverage (a la Brett Favre).

And he'll always be JAG.
A strange personal angle that has nothing to do with football.

Watch his feet and throws under pressure. He gets jittery. He misses his hot reads. He's inaccurate.

I predict Tom Brady will play for one of the 32 teams in the NFL in 2020, I also predict he will sign a contract with one of those 32 teams in mid-March.

You heard it here first folks....

 Tony, I don't know what you're looking at but you seem to be trying mighty hard to declare glaring holes in this guy's game that just aren't there. Every quarterback from time to time gets "jittery" under heavy pressure but Garoppolo much less so than most. He certainly is not inaccurate -- his accuracy is a strength (4th in the league last year) and his high yards per attempt indicate deep accuracy.

Because the 9ers would need to unload Jimmy quickly and not d**k around with other teams who could leak info.

The fact BB texts Jimmy to check on him thoroughly out the season tells you everything you need to know about BBS feelings towards Jimmy.
I could definitely see it.
IF Brady and the Niners have true interest in one another.

Do you happen to have a “friend in the know”?

Won’t shock me if there’s a QB swap.

I think it would be pretty crazy it really would be.
If this is what TB wants, I’d be happy for him. Pats would get the guy back they wanted to succeed TB. Everyone wins.

If this happens the Pats-49ers game in Foxboro will be epic.

Jimmy G was exposed but the 49ers might lose emmanuel sanders. He was a big part of that offense. Would i welcome jimmy g? Yes but you better put weapons around him. I think he’s in the same category as a guy like kirk cousins. In that tier. I always thought that the best landing spots for tom where San Francisco or Dallas. Not the raiders or chargers.

I meant inaccurate while under pressure but either way if he ends up here I'll hope you're right.

Jimmy has his short comings, but we could do a hell of a lot worse at QB after Brady. I’d take him in a heartbeat.

He came like one throw from a championship with a defense that was more or less comparable to the Patriots' last season. They had a bunch of castoff running backs. And while Kittle is great, his receivers were somehow inferior to the Patriots' (Edelman was the best receiver on either team). His coach is an offensive genius, so that helps.

I don't think he's Brady but we're in an era when there aren't many great QBs under age 35.

If the ultimate insane decision is to not bring back Brady, then bringing back Garoppolo would be the best thing that could happen, in my opinion.
