Brady Negotiations to Begin at Combine (Merged)

There’s something about that franchise that makes me always change the channel, as I feel I’m watching an inferior product. A Super Bowl win didn’t even legitimize them.

Here's another crap organization with an interest with Brady...

I truly believe there is probably at least 20 teams that would sign Brady if he told them he would play for them.

OT, but I don't want to start a thread about it...

Has Ordway gotten an ownership stake in the Patriots, or something? His blatant shilling for the Patriots POV re: Brady has gotten to the point where I have had to wonder if BB got pictures of Ordway banging a puppy, or something.

Can there be a 3 strike law for Rapaport? 3 strikes and he is banned from this forum? He is basically Sharks of Vegas with a blue Twitter check mark.

True...it doesn't put the Patriots in cap hell. It's the cost of doing business with a non-rookie QB contract.

I am 1000% in favor of bringing Brady back any price, and I think people are not seeing the forest here and are staring at the trees and taking for granted the historical rarity of being a fan right now even at the end of the dynasty; at the same time, there's a reason for some healthy skepticism on bringing back Brady at that price from a short-term competitive standpoint. The problem is the lack of young assets on rookie deals due to some dreadfully poor draft returns for years. This will catch up to every team, though if you had a rookie (like Stidham) and he was good, you could neutralize a lot of the negative impact of these drafts. But assuming they bring back Brady, they'll have maybe $15-20M, maybe some restructures and cuts to bring up that number to $25-30M.

But that is also without accounting for McCourty, Thuney, and Van Noy, among others. So it's hard to imagine a much greater overall net impact when they would presumably just be trading some positions (defense especially) for some skill players. There just isn't a ton of cap space to work with considering all of the holes on the roster. So unless the team can really defy the odds here, it's likely trading one set of problems for some others. The handicap of like five bust drafts in a row, and paying a reasonable amount for a QB, is typically a recipe for failure.
All of this is probably why Brady asked to become a FA and why I am nervous he will decide to leave.

I get the same feeling watching the Cardinals, Bengals, Dolphins, Giants, Redskins...even the Bears, honestly. Just incredibly boring no matter what year it is and who's there.

I've been getting into soccer lately and professional football badly needs a relegation system.

Agree 1000%. I would love to see it.

Never mind banned from the forum. If there was a 3 strike law LaCanfora would have received the chair by now.

I can’t imagine what makes you say that.

Someone get rid of this post. It doesn’t match the foolish, oft parroted idea that Belichick can’t wait to kick Brady to the curb.
Belichick must be so excited to be free from the handicap of paying an elite QB.

I think it's great that we've combined the combine thread.

32 owners in this league would love to find a way to add Brady to their roster because he puts butts in seats and moves tons of merch. (merch is short for merchandise, I abbreviated it for brevity)
