I want to punch his high school quarterback in the head

Damn he’s annoying in this thing

So no natural curiosity about what could lead a young man with the potential to live our dreams down the road of murder over the smallest of slights?
watching it play out in the nightly news didn't sate your curiosity? the whole thing is a gd greek tragedy ... i will pass

There was a tale of three different AH’s. The one he hid, the football AH and the wanna be gangster AH.
Isn’t the wanna be gangster the one he hid?

On the change in that law… My understanding is he killed himself to make sure his daughter got her inheritance? So that the law changed and that didn’t happen?

His homosexuality is what he hid, wannabe gangster was a dual life. It was a sad story all around. There was money and fame but those were also negatives in his life. His choices, his circumstances, his friends, football, even getting drafted by NE all turned out to be bad for him.

I watched and I don’t know I did. It was exactly what I expected. Some strong insinuation that it’s because of CTE, some of Aaron’s “poor me” recorded phone calls with his mom, and the suppressed homosexuality. Not much new information but I did like that they at least included a little bit about Odin Lloyd and his friends and family. As they mentioned the victim sometimes gets lost in these high profile celebrity cases like this and they managed to portray Lloyd as a normal guy with hopes and dreams who was taken from his loved ones by AH.

So now AH is immortalized for eternity on Netflix. Unbelievable. It just will never go away. Ray Lewis gets a job and statue and Pats fans get this tv show in the cloud forever.

Documentaries are movies.

Two of the best are Making a Murderer and Soaked in Bleach, about the death of Kurt Cobain. Both of those stirred up some real anger.

As for Hernandez, there have been plenty of examples of men who had a rough life who didn't kill anyone. I'll save my sympathy for his victims.

Watched the series last night. I give it a B+. I followed the case closely so I knew most of what happened, but the phone calls from jail, additional video surveillance footage, interviews from former Patriots Bodden & O'Callaghan & the effects of CTE on the safety of the game made it a worthwhile watch.

100% agree.

Tabloids/24 hour news maws aren't going to take the same look at him as a documentary crew will.

Isn't making a show like this the same as Rolling Stone putting the Boston Marathon bomber on their front cover? I get the true crime aspect of it, but I just can't imagine watching this. I lived through it via TV, Twitter, and that God Awful Ron Borges write up (where BILL F*CKING BELICHICK suggested he get a separate apartment for hiding guns and drugs and money...FFS). I'll not relive it, thanks.

I'm rewatching Parks and Recreation. I'm happy with my TV viewing choice.

I sure they have different perspectives. jusy my opinion though, I don't need to spend three hours or so watching someone try to explain away the why ... I just don't care to watch someone trying to explain away /justify what he did because of cte, his daddy dying, his momma stchuping his uncle, whatever ...

I hope you enjoy it Fnord. I hope its good, riveting television that offers you some deep insight into aaron hernandez's fractured pysche.

I was definitely not going to watch this and then I did. Watched all three last night.

It was sad and I learned a few new details about the case.

I would say it’s good not great because they were SOOOO obvious in implying that he became a murderer because of this and this and this. Basically three things led him to become a mass murderer. Others have spoiled what they are so I won’t.

But what if that is not why he ended up as he was?? How many people go through **** and don’t end up homicidal.

It’s interesting and overly simplified.

PS- I forgot what an awesome player he was.

PPS- his fiancée... the worst person ever maybe.

Good review. I also wondered the same thing you did....there’s a lot of people in the world who go through a LOT without becoming homicidal but I wonder if there was quite the element of brain damage in other cases. His CTE was quite severe. Jermaine Wiggins was very clear (and correct) that loads of players have CTE and not all are murderers but that specific set of circumstances doesn’t exist for every player. The obvious self-loathing, the hugely screwed up family, the opportunity to fall in with shady characters, the drugs and finally, the very socially stunted personality, I ended up coming away thinking it was complex, not simplistic.

Yes, could not agree with you more. After watching this one would think that it was the perfect storm for creating a sociopath. And maybe it was, but the cynic in me thinks, “that’s what the producers wanted us to think.“

Terribly tragic either way. One thing I did appreciate was learning more about LLoyd. I thought the best part of the show was his friend and teammate on that semi pro team. That guy killed it.

Avoiding it. I am so done with all things AH.

Watched "The King" instead two nights ago. Pretty decent.

Watching the new "Dracula" series. Not bad.

Plan on watching "The Two Popes"
In regards to Dracula. Last episode is trash. Drink a bit before starting it.

Whether or not the QB was telling the truth, he was classless to say Hernandez was gay when he can’t prove it nor could Hernandez defend himself.

I had no idea “Hernandezing” was a thing on social media. Good lord, times are weird.
