I was there too. The receiver Stidham was throwing to was open, Adams made a good read and jumped the route. Also, Stidham completed both pass attempts before that play.

Threw an arch pass off his back foot and the ball sailed over the open receiver’s head into Adams arms.

Just looked at it again, the ball was overthrown...but Jamal Adams was at least going to light up Bolden.

didn’t stidham admit after the game that he was not prepared to go into the game?

If so, not the smartest thing to say out loud,

Well, shame on rookie Stidham for throwing a bad pass and not learning perfection from the GOAT.

I'm not sure how anyone can answer this at all. What has he thrown 1 pass in the NFL? Wasn't it picked off? Pre season I mean...that's not even football. Pure guessing game.

It was one bad play.

He was 2 for 3 for 14 yards in that game against the Jets. The pick 6 was all anyone remembers.

Dude, I was just sayin'.....(shrugs)

He could of thrown a 99 yard TD and it would not mean a thing. You can't evaluate him based on that, or based on media leaks probably designed by the team. This is not a slight on him, I have no idea what he is and neither does anyone else. This poll is useless.

"Just sayin'" what? What stock are you putting in that one throw -- that Stidham is a bad prospect?

By the way, he didn't throw it off his back foot, it was a short drop and his feet were set. The receiver was open and he overthrew him, Adams (who is a good safety) read it and made the pick.

Just saying he made a bad overthrow, take it for what it's worth. Not putting any kind of stock in anything, just saying to tap on the brakes a bit here.

And it wasn't me saying it was his back foot.

How many in game throws did Brady have under his belt when he went into the jets game after Mo Lewis destroyed Bledsoe?

At some point bb will give stidham a chance to step up, it is incumbent upon stidham to take full advantage and prove that he can be “the guy”!

OK, if you're not putting any stock in it why are you saying to "tap the breaks"? You made a big point in your first post about being eyewitness to a Stidham play on which YOU could've done better. Seems you're the one who needs to tap those breaks. ;)

This is a 23 year old kid who:

- Has played well in the toughest FBS conference.

- Had a "down" year in an offense that didn't suit him.

- Was drafted in the 4th round.

- Played well in preseason.

- Played well enough for the coaches to trust him as a #2 over Hoyer.

- Tosses a pick six on his first outing on a short pass to the RB on a 3rd and 14 with a safety zeroing in from the first down marker.

Beyond that we have nothing to evaluate and it's all purely speculation.

what we DON'T know is how highly rated the Pats coaching staff has him...we'll find out soon enough if Brady absconds

You've overemphasized the pick six. It is irrelevant vs. his training camp/preseason performance and reports of his efforts in practice this past season. Beyond that, word from Foxboro is he is showing Garoppolo-like potential but likely needs another year of seasoning before being ready to run the offense.

Dunno....someone entrusted to be the #2 coming into a 30-7 game with 6-7 mins left on the clock and throws a pick six on 3rd and 14 when a punt would have burned off at least 3-4 minutes easy given how bad Falk was playing.

Not saying he is a bum, not not fitting him for a Pats HOF red jacket either. Remember Rohan Davey, Michael Bishop, etc....?

yeah, I remember them well. I had a press pass and wrote a blog back then. Stidham is light years ahead of those particular ex-Pats, which isn't saying much, granted

I don't recall when Brady threw his first pick-six but there have been several in his career and he seems to have recovered well enough. Stidham is a much more intriguing prospect than the likes of Davey, Bishop, etc. -- even Cassel, Mallet and a host of other Patriot QB hopefuls: He has a quick release and is accurate, which can't be taught. He's mechanically sound and athletic. Yet to be determined is how well he processes information under pressure at the pro level and how he is as a leader.

His sin is he's not Lamar Jackson or Mahomes...welcome to NFL Fans 2020
