Josh McDaniels News and Rumors

I still think McD goes to Cleveland. With only the Browns job still left, I'm surprised he hasn't moved up his Friday interview. Browns have reached out to Schwartz. Now the offense has holes both on the field and on the sideline. Most likely O'Shea could replace Judge as WR coach. OC and ST still a question. Next question, will Scar retire? He has had a trainee for a couple of years.
Scar didn’t have his best year either.

If Brady leaves and NE's offense is ranked a lot worse than this year's, people will say that NE's offensive success was all because of Brady. On the other hand, if Stidham or another QB takes the reins, and NE has a great offensive season then it'll make him look like a genius. It's a risk that McDaniels would have to take staying here in NE. I'll bet that he and Brady are discussing as we speak about whether Brady wants to return. Brady's decision is going to influence McD's decision one way or the other. I am hoping McD staying here is an indication that Tom wants to stay.
Brady doesn’t need to discuss whether he wants to return, he needs the team to tell him he can.

I understand your logic. I’ve found that often these types - who move up to the highest levels of their fields - are supremely confident. If McD is “worried losing Brady makes him vulnerable” he’s not HC material after all.

The last thing these guys worry about is how fans in message boards judge their responsibility for their past success.
Josh McDaniel will spend exactly zero seconds wondering how accepting a job might affect how meaningless opinions are affected about the amount of credit he deserves for his rings.

Not really sure how this reply has anything to do with my post.

I was saying that McD isn’t going to base his decision to go/leave NE on Brady. It’ll be based on the prospective new team, his family, etc...

You can’t see how this agrees with your post and adds another facet?

Sorry, if I'm Josh, I'm bolting for Cleveland if that's all Brady's telling me right now. There would be too much uncertainty surrounding NE's offense. Assuming that Haslam offers the keys to the Browns to McD and that Josh's interview is not a disaster, the Browns would make more sense for him.

McDaniels leaves, Brady resigns as both quarterback and offensive coordinator.
You'd think that after 20 years in one place Tom would be able to run the entire offense. Yea, not happening.

I want Mcdaniels to stay greedily to develop our next QB or I want Oconnell or Kellen Moore to develop the next QB.
Or BB himself to train the next QB like Myagi to Daniel son.

If he is offered the Cleveland job whether he takes it or not has nothing to do with Brady’s future in ne.

The only open HC job right now is the Browns. What a choice for McDaniels - work for James Haslam II or head back to New England for a rebuild without Tom Brady. Haslam is a career killer. Belichick refuses to get out of the way.

The best move for Josh is to win without Brady, develop a promising young QB, and hope Joe Judge succeeds in New York. His stock will rise and he can get the best of the jobs that open next year. He will probably take the Cleveland job.

If McDaniels leaves wouldn’t you want someone running the offense who has actually been a success at it?

Appearantly

moore has done wonders with Dak in one season and was said to be a huge Brady fan and a film junkie.
Kevin O’Connell was a QB here so he knows the system and appearantly the Redskins really liked him but gave Rivera power to hire his friend from Carolina.

I'd like to have Kellen Moore. Unfortunately, he's under contract for the Dallas Cowboys....

you want to mimic the 2019 cowboys?

O’Connell has been part of failure everywhere he has been.
He has coached 5 years. His teams are 22-58
Their offenses were 30,29,27,16,32 (the year he was oc) in scoring.

I don’t think he is under contract but we won’t outbid Dallas for him.
It would be a great surprise to land him my preference is McDaniels but I’m thinking O’Connell wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize

I guess I can't say I know for a fact that Moore is under contract but I just think if he wasn't, we would have known by now because while he's not ready to step up into the HC role, he is indeed one of the League's hotter commodities and other teams would have wanted to interview him for OC positions. Everything I heard was that Dallas wants to keep him and I don't know of anything saying he is free to go.

The Dallas Cowboys were a surprisingly good team statistically, it just didn't translate into wins the way one would expect. They had the 3rd best point differential in the NFC. If you're a stats nerd like me, the Pythagorean Wins Expectation for them was roughly 10.75 (more than 1 full win greater than GB). Not the best team in football, but not too shabby statistically.

I never said that. I said he should take the Cleveland job because the risk of staying here in NE is too great regardless of who the QB is for NE. His choices are take the CLeveland job or stay here and hope for a better opportunity in 2021.

And it’s about wins not statistics that don’t result in wins.
In football all cumulative statistics are not close to created equally.
