There was nothing new in the video. We already knew the kid asked if he could delete the video. What hurts is that the snippet of that video did not have any shot of the advanced scout. So the dumb security guard kept saying, "I don't see any video of the advance scout" over and over. And now for the next few days at least this will be the narrative - that there was no advance scout on the tape. This is only a small part of all the video from that day. The league has all the tape I believe so should have footage of the scout.
The kid was dumb to act how he did. Even if we are innocent, the cameraman is terrible at his job. I think its okay to admit as fans that at the very least, that cameraman was stupid as all hell.

Exactly. There is no switching from bench to field to scoreboard/clock and back. If there is a crime, there has to be intent. There is no intent on that video whatsoever.

That's not true at all. If you drink and drive and kill someone, you're going to jail, even if clearly you didn't mean to hurt anyone.

Bob kraft should be suspended the rest of the year, and a $250,000 fine

Then jonathan taking over for the rest of the year brings back AB and we win the title and Bob gets to have his cake and eat it too,.
AB isn’t coming back.

I decided just now that I am offically moving past this. I will say: Patriots or whoever was involved was dumb to let this happen. Cheating, misconception or whatever it was... Dumb to film sidelines like that given our history and all eyes on us.

With that said, I am moving on. I want to enjoy playoff football. Not sure how many playoff runs Patriots have left.
Yep. Onward and upward.

The league already penalized the Giants a few years ago for walkie-talkie gate when their radio went down. There was no intent to cheat because all the Giants were doing was communicating the play calls. However, the league came down with a hefty fine.

I meant in the NFL.

This is a violation of rules, but not a “gate”.

No, but our argument this whole time was that this was about an advance scout. There was NO advance scout in that 1 min video, so naturally people will assume we were lying. Nevermind the fact that it was only a small part of the total video taken.

This is so dumb (not your post...the situation). It was, as anyone who has ever worked in media (which I have) knows, a classic bit of B-roll shooting. They didn't zoom in on anyone, didn't look specifically at signals (heck it was from BEHIND so you can't see them), nothing. Just random, generic footage of an NFL sideline.

For anyone to look at that and think "oh evidence the Patriots were cheating" is just so frigging idiotic it's almost impossible to comprehend.

But the media and the NFL fan world is full of total idiots so what can you expect? I mean, these are the same people who think that the laws of physics suddenly don't apply to footballs on a cold day in New England. Because........Patriots.

Yea but that was a game day ops violation. A no-no

Even that angle doesn't make much sense. Say the social media department for a hospital does a story on a doctor or nurse, there are going to be establishing shots of the exterior of the hospital or a waiting room or a hospital corridor. The doctor or nurse doesn't have to be in all of these shots. No one would watch that and say "I don't see the doctor!" during those scenes. Well, a dumb person would, but that kind of proves the point.

Edit: Or what Ivanvamp just said.

I don't agree with it here either (no offense intended). You may not mean to grab a face mask, but you'll still get flagged. You may not mean to violate the salary cap (it may be a miscalculation), but you'll still get punished.

And in the NFL world, you can even do NOTHING WRONG and get punished...at least if you're the Patriots anyway.

There won't be a distinction by the league between ops and non-ops. Based on the way Goodell has acted in the past, this will be an organization violation. I'm just thankful that idiot camera guy didn't get a chance to email the video to Belichick (even if Belichick didn't want it). Can you imagine the repercussions if he did?

If that went to BB he'd be suspended.

That’s a snippet from the Cincy folks. A fraction of all the evidence. It was the one piece Cincy gave to Glazer.

You’re really going to base your opinion of that fraction from one party?

Honestly Cincy going outside the investigation (an in-process investigation, mind you) and feeding this to the media is a FAR greater league violation.

.

I sure hope he was somewhere at some point during that video.

I have not seen that as a point of contention here at all since the report came out.

Yes, I agree, but I am merely saying what the public reaction has been so far (based off of PFT comments, etc). No advanced scout in video = cheaters!!!!

My understanding was that they took video of him before the game. Once the game started, the scout did his job, and the camera guy filmed the sideline for B-roll footage.

Which is why I’m fine with a fine of Kraft.

No to draft picks though - that should only be for game ops/intent. This is a tax return mistake.
