Hi , I’m coming over for this game from Scotland, staying in Boston.I’m looking for some advice on meeting up with some Patriot fans before the game. I’m travelling solo, as this was a birthday gift from my wife, and she can’t make it.
I’ve booked the 1.30pm bus from Boston to Gillette on game day.
Any advice re what to do before the game & best places to visit pre game would be really appreciated. I’m staying in downtown Boston for 5 days .
Thanks David

I had made a thread several weeks ago regarding the same game, Dallas 11/24 - will go ahead and piggyback off of this one.

Traveling up to Foxboro from Charlottesville, VA with myself and a buddy. Got the tickets as a wedding gift for my friend (he just got married).

We've been long-time Pats' fans but never been to a game at Gillette.

If any PatsFans.dot.com'ers will be at the game, let me know. Would love to meet and share a drink on me.

This game I have chalked it up as a loss, their DL will rash Brady and Brady in regular season is not going to take unnecessary hits. I expect a lot of throw aways in this game, Cowboys will try the Ravens approach with death by a thousand cuts. Teams saw that the best way to play us is not to challenge the secondary. All you have to do is stretch the field and go for 10 yrds at a time. As long as you don't turn the ball over, you may be ok.

You could actually make an entire day out of Patriots Place

Check out the Pats Hall of Fame

Check out some of the stores in Pats' Place

Join in on someone's tailgate party.....can't find any takers? Go to Olive Garden

Enjoy the Game

Then catch a movie right after the game.

I'm also going to the Dallas game as a birthday present, along with my sister & brother & his adopted son, all of whom - including me - have never been to Gillette for a Pats game (my sister has gone there for some really sh!t concerts, however)...section 236 row 11.

My wife told me about this only a week ago...If she had told me about this two days ago, I would've told her to cancel the transaction.

You might want to catch an earlier bus.

Funny, I haven't been in the Boston area since the late 80's and that was the first thing that came to my mind when reading the OP.

Where in Scotland? The high country or the low country?

I would get to the stadium area earlier. At least by noon.

Time passes by so quickly on game day.

@dreighver - Charlottesville! I grew up there, and am there regularly to see Mom, Sister, friends, and a couple of clients. Never have seen Pats clothing a single time when there. Nice.

What about David the Scotsman?

I'm sure David is a great guy, and I'd love to bump into him and say hello.

But there is part of me hoping to meet someone who I've known via this forum for awhile, think that'd be especially fun since we'd be able to banter about forum related stuff and whatever history we have together on the forum (for better or worse lol).

I like it, more or less lived here all my life, definitely a fan of the area. Very excited to get up to the New England area for the second time (first time was a trip to UMass Amherst for a pre-college visit in spring 2013).

A sister of my wife is the head of pediatric physical therapy at the UVA hospital in Charlottesville, and I can attest that the only people who wear Patriots gear that I've ever seen there are her Irish husband & their son (now a junior at James Madison) ...Mostly UVA gear of course, some Deadskins gear (the poor souls)...

Hi,

Low country, Ayr, town on west coast started off in Ireland from a big Irish family and my dad was a firefighter who took a transfer here many years ago to escape the troubles in the 70’s. He thought all Scotland wore tartan and sent me to my first day at school dressed as a bay city roller, (look it up if you’re not old you will get a laugh). Needless to say my family still haven’t let me forget it.

Bumping this with the Dallas game next up.

Any posters going to be there? Would love to call your opinions moronic to your face instead of over the internet.

Oh, there's no Bantering during a Live Game day Thread. One has to be both pessimistic AND fatalistic at the same time, and the other has to show high dudgeon at the faintheartedness on display.

Banter before or after the game. That's what the tailgate is for.

I have tickets to the game but if there is a chance of a snowflake or temps below 60F then forget it.

I'll take them from you if it ends up being 59 degrees or lower.
