Kaepernick ..... Tryout Edition

Talent beats all of this. Otherwise the ******ed Bosa brothers would not have a job in the NFL either.

Honestly I agree with you in any other case. But Kaepernick is for many people something that they view as essentially anti-America and that's probably the only exception to this rule.

You can kill somebody, beat kids and women or whatever and there is a way to get away with it. But being the symbol of being "anti-America" is the only exception to this talent beats anything rule.

I thought I read reports that even Kaep was surprised. Regardless, I doubt the NFL is catering to him (they're doing this over halfway thru the season...) - and just doing a terribly planned, last-second PR stunt. I don't blame him for moving it, do something like that on your own terms.

I'm honestly just wondering why a guy wants to work for a league that ****ed him sideways over kneeling. Even if you hate Kaep, you gotta at least see the league handled this entire mess, from start to end, terribly - and this is a continuation of that trend.
it’s obvious Colin doesn’t want to play football in the NFL. When an employer sets up an interview, you show up...on their terms, not yours. He must somehow believe he’s special. And that false belief is why most think he’s an idiot.

Yesterday proved that anyone defending Colin was wrong. Even if he was a GREAT player, who’d want such an ego-driven clown of a man on their team?

As a fan, I wouldn’t want to see him in a Patriots uniform. I’m very comfortable that everything I’ve just written is accurate assessment of who this man is.

Colin isn’t anti American but he’s definitely anti-team

Agree with your post. For people outside, it’s hard to comprehend.

I didn't want Kap on this team outside a limited role. I'm not a fan of his behavior and his ego. However, If I were him, and the NFL gave me a waiver saying I can't sue the league (without discussing this with me beforehand) I'd wouldn't show up either.

Even if you think cop and troop worship culture is gross (I do, obviously), there's no real reason to see Kaepernick as a hill worth dying on. That said, purely from a labor perspective, he's absolutely right not to sign a waiver of right to sue. That's insane.

I like his little rant after the workout about he will show up anywhere at anytime literally right after he wouldn’t show up to the approved time and place the NFL set up. That and the accent he somehow developed overnight. Complete fraud.
The whole thing was a charade. Kap stays relavent and the NFL looks like its the beacon of free expression for all humans. One hand washes the other.

I firmly believe both sides do not want the other to be in a contractual relationship to play in the NFL

He's making so much money now doing nothing...why would he want to play again?

If this guy (A) had the necessary skills and (B) tempered his sociopolitical activism enough not to be an on-the-job distraction, he'd be playing. It's as simple as that.

I mean, if Kaepernick can keep pumping the NFL for money without exposing his body and brain to injury, good for him I guess. Not because I have any great respect for the guy, but I have even less respect for the league.

I wish that I was not locked out of this thread.

This thread alone is proof alone why no team will sign him anyway. Do you think that an owner wants to divide his fan base that much over a backup QB and let's say he becomes the starter just how many fans will stop watching or other kind of repercussions?

Honestly if the Pats would sign Kaepernick just imagine how this forum would look like. So many arguing over non football related stuff. I'm tired of it already.

It happens anyways, and the sports talk mediot fan the fires of dissent in their never ending quest for Twitter Followers and Facebook likes..

Exactly. I don't think he does.

He's using the pub for another angle.

Expand the MDP? Endorsements? Is his Speaking engagements? Is his Nike deal up?

I don’t think so. Maybe at one point he asked for too much money and his girlfriend ruined his shot in Baltimore but it doesn’t mean he’s asking for 20+ today like people think.

Isn't that what he asked for from the XFL?

Anyway his actions have demonstrated that he would rather be a paid social victim than a football player.

Kap is a functional NFL QB no question.

That little press conference he had at the end was a joke. If he's trying to endear himself to teams he's taking the wrong approach....

They've played both fast and mobile QBs before. Did they go around burning roster spots to bring in Kaepernick back then?

I thought I read an article a couple of years ago stating that Belichick has been known to bring players in to mimic the size, speed and mannerisms of players they're about to face. I'll try to find it but don't hold your breath... unless you want to. ;)

We should stop talking about him here. Let’s close this thread!!

The Patriots scout team thing makes no sense to me. Just sign some guy to the practice squad if you need an option QB to play Lamar Jackson.

The teams that should have signed Kaepernick in the past few years were like the Texans after Watson got hurt and they trotted out Tom Savage in the playoffs and the Bills after Taylor went down and they played Nathan Peterman. Those teams could have had decent playoff runs with a competent QB like Kaepernick and instead started literal garbage instead. But if those teams weren't going to sign him then, no one's signing him now.

He was a somewhat effective, though erratic, QB who could still make money in this league as a quality backup at least.

He is a more effective Professional Victim, for which there is a much greater market these days.

Yesterday wasn't a tryout for a job. It was a day of work at his real job.
