Kaepernick ..... Tryout Edition

You're reiterating something I did not refute. I know that's what you said. And in fact, I was pretty much agreeing with you that I don't blame teams for passing on him. I chose to further speak on the idea of "baggage", and how weird it is that we exist in a league where that is worth this entire controversy while we let sexual and harmful abuse run with like, a 4 game suspension.

Plenty of players in the NFL have no respect for being apart of a team, or they wouldn't do the insane stuff that they do in the free time, such as what I've outlined in the past two posts.

Again, I'm not disagreeing with your original post. As for this post, I don't think this is a personal cry out for attention, and that's the only real point I'm disagreeing with you on, but that's not a big deal right now.
Everything Kaepernick does is a cry for attention. That’s the point. The only relationship between his actions as an NFL player and a cause are that he used the cause to draw attention to himself. I’d it was about the cause instead “hey look at me I’m kneeling for the national anthem” he would have used his access to the media to bring attention to he cause. He didn’t.
malcolm Jenkins is about the cause. Kaepernick is about being an attention whore.

players off the field issues are off the field. Kaepernick brings it to the stadium. That doesn’t man beating your wife is better than being a distraction to your team but the fact that NFL players have off the field problems doesn’t mean a player creating distraction is not a problem because you can find a different problem that is worse.

I don’t think he is close to better than many of the backups.
He is a train wreck of a person for many more reasons than just kneeling.
Jeezus you guys really don’t like this guy lol

Not at all. But him sucking as a football player and sucking as a person are 2 unrelated things.

A non-standard waiver is precisely what makes it a set-up. The NFL clearly wanted assurances they would never see Kaep in court.

We know the NFL legal team is sleazy. Have we forgotten about defamegate?

The NFL says it was a standard waiver. He has had the waiver since Wednesday, and didn’t cancel until today at noon. Why did he wait 3 days to cancel if the waiver wasn’t sufficient Wednesday?

If the NFL dropped it on him an hour before the workout it might look like they set him up, but it was the opposite. He didn’t say anything about it until an hour before his workout was supposed to start.

Finally someone who can read. This was a set up job by Pash that was basically an example of sheer stupidity. Did they really think his lawyer/agent would not read the waiver? This is bush league.

I am amazed at how many people bash the NFL leadership (Pash, Goodell) when they go against the Pats but blindly listen/follow them when they do crap to the other teams/people.

Let me try doing this gently.....

Both sides have made contradictory claims. It is therefore likely that one, or more, of the following is true, AND IT'S ENTIRELY POSSIBLE THAT THE FIRST THREE OPTIONS ARE ALL TRUE:

  1. The NFL was up to no good and played games with Kaepernick
  2. Kaepernick was up to no good and played games with the NFL
  3. There was a series of misunderstandings by two sides, both of whom were up to no good or playing games
  4. There was a series of misunderstandings by two sides, neither of whom were up to no good or playing games

But to talk about "Finally someone who can read" is to be unfair. It's unfair because the sides are both pointing to the other on issues in dispute (Filming permission, what is the "standard" waiver, etc....), so an ability to read, combined with the absence of evidence regarding the articles of contention, doesn't make either side somehow right by default.

The conflicting statements are publicly available on the internet, and they've been posted/linked to in this thread. So it's not a matter of reading or not reading. It's a matter of conflicting, but unverified, claims.

I need to amend my comment after reading Florio. The NFL (PASH) wanted him to sign a waiver absolving them of collusion. This whole sham by Pash is starting to make more sense - they are slimy and even though I stand by my original assessment that CK is not good enough, I totally agree with his choice to do what he did today.

Now, he can sue them for collusion - especially if no one bothered to make the trip to his “new workout”.

Failure to show up at an event that was changed in location at the last minute is not proof of collusion.

NFL said the waiver was “based on” the standard waiver. That means it was NOT the standard waiver.

That's not what the NFL said. They said it was a "standard liability waiver based on the waiver used by National Invitational Camp at all NFL Combines and by NFL clubs when trying out free agent players." I.e., a standard waiver. It's "based on" other waivers because the text specifies the date and time of the workout.

See a copy for yourself:

This wad a deliberate staged set up by Nike and the liberal news media.
There was no real intention to sign with a team. Why would he? He's making a hell of a lot of more from monopolistic corporations then he would have playing.

Say what?? Unconnectable dots are connected via some back channel conspiracy..

I do not think any of this is about his legacy on the football field, it is more about his belief about injustices due to his political views, and subsequent banishment by the NFL, trying to right what he perceives as a wrong. Considering the quality of back up QB's across the league in the past three years he should have minimally been invited for a work out by several NFL teams..

None of the 32 did not even try to patronize him and that is a huge issue...

OT: I’ve never sat in the social justice warrior section at a NFL game.
So many questions
Can they see the game while kneeling?
Do leather footballs and synthetic turf anger their plant-based sensibilities?
Does security allow them to bring their soy lattes into the stadium, along with their comfort hamsters?
Do they boo the Patriots Minutemen who stand near the end zone?
Do they tell other sections all the things those people are doing wrong?
Do they travel to games in electric vehicles?
Is tailgating using charcoal a non-starter?
What vessels do they drink from given their stance on plastic bottles and styrofoam?
Are hot chocolate sales considered racist?
Are Nike pig socks warm?

This thread alone is proof alone why no team will sign him anyway. Do you think that an owner wants to divide his fan base that much over a backup QB and let's say he becomes the starter just how many fans will stop watching or other kind of repercussions?

Honestly if the Pats would sign Kaepernick just imagine how this forum would look like. So many arguing over non football related stuff. I'm tired of it already.

I’m not saying you’re delusional, it just reads that way.

Talent beats all of this. Otherwise the ******ed Bosa brothers would not have a job in the NFL either.

You guys reaaaallly want this to be true.

So lets film a Nike ad during the tryout?

Kaep is profiting nicely from all of his suffering and victimization.

Wearing pig socks during practice? Dumb.

Wearing a Fidel t-shirt during a Miami interview? Incredibly ignorant and screams " don't hire me" .

Calling the Raven's owner a slave owner? His girlfriend's tweet but his non rebuttal.

Changing a venue hours before the scheduled time and one where Nike would be allowed to film an ad? Kunta Kinte shirt? What?

None of this is about him trying to get back into the NFL imo. He and Nike are using the BLM platform to shove money in their pockets.

Is anyone talking about BLM anymore? Or are we talking about poor little Kaepernick?

Anyway I do respect your opinion but I think both the NFL, Nike and Kaep are just playing money grabbing games with each other.

It is true imo.
I don’t think so. Maybe at one point he asked for too much money and his girlfriend ruined his shot in Baltimore but it doesn’t mean he’s asking for 20+ today like people think.
