Finding myself rooting FOR Jacoby... and AGAINST Jimmy...

Few years ago some had a hard time letting Jimmy go. We called them Garropolites. Just a good natured ribbing back and forth.

I like the idea that the Patriots drafted and developed both of these QB's, hope they both do well and continue to prosper in the NFL..

How about in 2020 Brady does his victory lap, Brissett becomes a FA at the end of that season and the Pats brain him back home???

...but, from the moment I saw that this Monday night's game would be Seattle vs. the Niners, I just wanted the Hawks to wipe that smug smile off pretty Jimmy's face.

Why do you interpret his smile as "smug"? He's happy to be playing well on a winning team. Deriding him as "pretty Jimmy" suggests you find his looks unsettling, which no one can help but you.

Always loved the Niners as a cool team to root for if they’re not playing the Pats, live in the Bay Area now, and love Jimmy G’s game.

Jacoby Brissett plays for the Indianapolis Colts. I don’t know how anyone who has followed the Pats since 2001 can ever root for anyone on that team to succeed under any circumstances.

Yup. It makes no sense rooting for Brissett to do well but for the Colts to fail -- the two are mutually exclusive. One thing I never have understood is the ongoing fanboy worship of Brissett by some members here, mostly for his Colts affiliation but also because he did little as a Patriot to earn it. Garoppolo clearly is the more skilled player from a technical standpoint and probably will do better over the long haul, but that's irrelevant to us now. Both he and Brissett have proven capable as starting NFL quarterbacks, which means squat to me vs. my hopes for Brady and Jarrett Stidham.

Could you clarify which are adjectives and which are adverbs? How that is sorted defines the meaning of your insult, and by making such meaningful contributions to the analysis, you deserve to be fully understood.

Generally I don't root for any NFC team, haven't since the AFL was born, and I definitely can't root for the Indiots. It doesn't matter to me who plays QB.
