But why would they just give up on a young talented high drafted player?

They're not using him much as a receiver. From what I've read, Arians doesn't usually use tight ends much in the receiving game. Plus, they're a long way from being a playoff team.

You could be right but we still don’t know for sure if he’s this elite TE that’s been held back or if he’s just a serviceable guy (which would still upgrade our TE group). In 2016-17 Cameron Brate had better overall numbers with Winston than Howard.

Definitely a part of it. Winston has struggled on intermediate routes off/on his entire career. Bruce's offense + Howard blocking. You can see why his name has come up. Watching film you can see the issues Winston has as well.

I'd take a shot w a 2nd/3rd for a well rounded, polished for his age, position of need, player. He's definitely worth the gamble.

Sooo....

Dude's a legit late-1st-round talent, and as long as his foot/ankle problems are things of the past, then I would be willing to part with a 1st-rounder for him.

I think Howard would do well here. 2nd or 3rd.

Wonder if Dallas Goedert would be available and at what price? Playing behind Ertz but I think his talent is under utilized.

2020 3rd and 2021 2nd

I can see why some would think that but he's a tremendous blocker. Phila loves him inline. He'd be another great fit though. Love to see him here vg player. And you are right about his rec skills, assuming you're talking abt when you write "underutilized". Definitely much more then a blocker.

Zippo, Zilch, Nada.
We already have 2 TEs sitting on the bench with injuries, don't need another, no matter what his potential is.

Funny how many here had no problem dumping old man Ben, yet he is the only reliable TE they have. He's gonna ball against the brownies on Sunday.

Do you really think Howard has a hamstring injury?

I would drop down from our 1st to thier 2nd. Trade them Rivers and a 5th.

None. Howard reportedly isn't available
With the Saints and Panthers in that division and their quarterback situation likely in flux the next year or two, I'm not sure why the Bucs would say they aren't open to dealing Howard. Either this is a case of them playing hardball to get teams to offer more or being unrealistic with where they are at as a franchise.

Are you suggesting a "hamstring injury" is what the cool kids call "holding out?" If so, things have come a long way from the Le'Veon Bell upfront approach that also costs players a bundle of money.

Ha.

Actually, I'm not sure who is forcing who's hand in TB

Nobody is considering dumping Watson now, of that you can be certain...but adding a TE of Howard's physical ability & potential here really is a no-brainer, and I hope that Bill is willing to go to the mattresses to acquire him (or Austin Hooper)...The other 3 "TEs" (snicker) would then be in competition with themselves to see who totally sucks the least...the one who "accomplishes" that feat stays; the ones who didn't I will drive to Green airport personally.

I'd give a 1st. How may years do we have with an elite SB winning QB?
Remember Easley, a 1st? Remember a certain fellow drafted with the 1st pick of the 2nd round, effectively our 1st?

I’d give up the first, we could really use him.
