I know Ben Watson had a very respectable evening as the TE1, but I kept noticing our new TE2, Eric Tomlinson, getting involved in the blocking game and even getting a couple looks as a pseudo-fullback.

He's very good in run protection, they seem to like to use him to hold the back edge on runs and he's good at taking his defender out of the play. The protection for Brady and Michel was much better while Tomlinson was on the field, and I'd bet good money that BB noticed.

Overall, we needed a massive upgrade in the TE blocking game and Watson helps, but Tomlinson deserves credit too. Unlike a guy like Watson who catches a few passes, you have to look to notice a guy like Tomlinson who's a pure blocking TE, but he still stood out to me last night. Nothing heroic, but he was solid, and he did his job.

Good observation, I didn’t notice him, will look for this in the "re-watch.” I would be happy with “Hooman 2.0.”

Completely disagree. His blocking was terrible sans the last one I saw on the edge. He was slow off the snap, didn't use his hands, completely whiffed on a trap/wham block etc...he struggled mightily. Won't be surprised if he is released soon. Depending on the health of the injured TE's.

I can't agree with that. He had a couple bad sequences early in the game so I can understand how that could sour someone's perspective, but Tomlinson did a lot of good work last night for a depth TE.

I certainly wouldn't release him. At the very least he's worth coaching up. He definitely provides a much needed size and physicality from the TE position and I'd rather he be out there than Ryan Izzo.

He did miss a few assignments early in the game.
He has been with the team for approximately (1) week.
Keep an eye on him going forward.

He might benefit from your counsel, if you're feeling up to it. Are you good to take on another student with everything else you've got going on?

I’d have to rewatch the game, but I was not impressed by him last night. Now that Brown is certainly off the table (which it always was), I’m going to refocus my irrational dreams of bringing back ex players onto Dwayne Allen.

Missed assignments I can understand after only being here a week. It was fundementals that he was lacking. We'll see if the staff feels they have something they can work with.

Asked Sony how impeccable Tomlinson's Wham blocks were?? Ok maybe he threw one good Block like Ryan Izzo a week ago who was immediately concussed. A Blocking TE have to throw more than one good Block a game. Oh and Sony might be in the Protocol after that Shot! he took from the entire D-Line on one running play late it seems late.

I think the dude has potential - he had the one nice block - good energy and size - see if he can get coached up a bit more

He certainly has the size they need for the OL...I'd like to see what two weeks of Scar will do for him before I'd get rid of him.

He had some good moments and bad moments. Missed a wham block but also had a good pickup on a rush. Hes been here a week. Hes a journeyman. Whatever.

The staff will review the game with him and see how he improves. If he improves a ton vs CLE, he stays. If he goes backwards, see ya.

Really miss my Wham Block pass dropping can't get separation buddy Dwayne Allen.:(

I cannot stand the wham block stuff Josh is calling right now. It has been useless for weeks. As soon as that TE moves a step back and over, the D knows what it is and can raid the box. It is the only reason to have a new TE in motion. Even at that, Tomlinson messed up and Brady has to correct him at the line last night.

To give him a chance of being around for a while, somebody please tell Bill Belichick that Tomlinson is not my binkie.
