The Dolphins sold off good players but, it's not like they're going into games actively trying to lose. Players don't go into games trying to lose, that would only cost them money and plus they may not even be a part of the future.
Flores wouldn't have put Fitzpatrick into the game if he was trying to lose, he'd have stuck with a struggling Rosen.
There's really no need to tank in the NFL, there's quality in the draft through out. It's not at all like the NBA. I don't think a punishment is needed because it's a bad plan.I think the point is about the franchise, not the players who are trying to make a career.

Flores is not intentionally throwing games. They just sold off the roster and do not have the talent to win any. Is that tanking? I dunno.
I think the Colts tank was a bit overblown. Why did they bench Painter? What about the suck for luck year? I think that was tanking.
For other teams that are historically bad but go 0-16 ten straight years. It’s just that always sucked

That’s definitely tanking. They’re intentionally putting an inferior team on the field to increase their chances of losing games and getting the #1 overall pick for Tua.Flores is not intentionally throwing games. Yeah from what I recall of that season it seemed like the Colts were actively trying to lose more on the field through their play calling than the Dolphins are this year. I can’t provide specifics though.
Luck is actually a good example of the futility of tanking. Even if he had had a good OL his whole career I’m not sure he’s good enough to change the course of a franchise for a decade. You could argue he wasn’t even the best QB in that draft (Wilson went in the third round).
The Colts cleaned house. Why would they tank without assurance of their jobs unless Irsay screwed them?Yeah from what I recall of that season it seemed like the Colts were actively trying to lose more on the field through their play calling than the Dolphins are this year.
