This Chiefs team is garbage

Defense will get much better with Ramsey (Assuming they sign him). And their offense is still lethal.

They have to trade for him and the Jags have stated several times that they have no interest in trading him. Also they are far from only beingva CB away from being good. Their D line is atrocious, their LB's are mediocre. They can't stop the run. In fact their secondary is the strength of their defense, for what that's worth.

The offense can be lethal in spots. But in general they are making a lot of mistakes which they don't make as often last year, turnovers, drops, penalties etc..

Their offense has been bad for two weeks straight. I think Denver may run all over them Thursday.

The lack of the running game on offense and the general ineptitude against run, pass.. everything really on defense will be difficult to turn around. Even with trades or scheme changes.

The Chiefs will have to essentially be flawless when they get to the redzone and then turn some TDs into FGs on defense to have any shot to get to the AFCCG in Foxboro.

The Chiefs have mismanaged their cap badly. Mahomes is still in his rookie deal and they are saving like $40M!!! right now. What will happen when they need to fork it over to sideshow Bob?

Here are the issues:

I called the Frank Clark signing the very worst of the offseason. At $21M it’s absurd to pay a pass rusher like him (as there about 15 guys like him) Khalil Mack money. Not even sure he’s an upgrade over Dee Ford...so far he has been awful, but he was never the superstar his contract suggests.

Tyreek Hil is at $18M a year, though his big increase begins next year. He’s an elite receiver, but that’s a ton of money.

Sammy Watkins is at $16M (lol). This is one of those deals where at the time, “hey they can afford it” ultimately rears it’s ugly head. Even at his best, he isn’t close to that good.

Travis Kelce is at $10M. That’s a lot for a tight end who is totally incapable of blocking.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is also at $10M, which is a darn lot of money for a guard, especially one who has never made a pro bowl.

In conclusion, between Hill, Watkins, and Kelce, that’s $44M in cap, and if you throw in Clark that’s $65M. Receivers and pass rushers are the worst investments in the NFL considering their cost and the high supply of them.

When they pay Mahomes, this might be an 8-10 win team for a long time.

I’ve gone through stuff like this with Brady when comparing him + key skill players to Manning and Rodgers. Brady + his top 3 skill players may cost less than Mahomes alone. And people wonder why Brady “always has a good defense.” Gee, I wonder. If they actively tried to pump up his production to MVP numbers at the expense of the team, he’d win MVP every year.

Forget the Chiefs defense. We know that they are historically bad.

Their offense, however, has averaged 18.5 PPG at home against two depleted defenses in the last two weeks.

I wish I remembered the poster who proclaimed the Chiefs had made huge improvements on defense because they shook up the personnel and brought in a new DC. This defense is much worse than last year’s defense, which isn’t surprising. Despite their problems last year, they had a lot of cohesiveness having played together for years. Merely tearing up the playbook for the sake of “doing something different” with a bunch of journeymen/ mercenary players is almost always a recipe for disaster.

But on the other hand, Denver stinks. They’re probably just what KC needs.

Denver can run and KC can't stop the run and it's in Denver. But KC probably will win a close one because Denver only kicks FGs

Texans D is more garbage than the Chiefs D

Mahomes is better than Watson

Chiefs'll win

Any chance Mahomes will want to bail from that franchise?

Your guess is as good as mine, but I highly doubt it. When is the last time a superstar franchise QB left the team that drafted him at the end of his rookie deal? Chiefs have the fifth-year option and plenty of time to extend him. I don’t see Mahomes walking away from $100M guaranteed.

The tourch has been dropped

Texans dropped two TD passes today too. Our D is going to need to come through big when we go to Houston

Lol @ Mahomes. This is what people mean when they’re not sold on his football IQ yet.
Yeah, it's awful. I mean, he's on pace for 38TDs and 3 INTs.

Think what he'd do if he had football IQ!!
