Second, I really wonder how much of it is really Tom complaining and how much is a narrative that being created by the mere hint of any dissatisfaction. Much like the Tom hates Bill narrative of the past.Constructive or not, if there is anyone who has earned the right to whine....it's Brady...
And this isn't the first time either....I seem to recall him saying the same thing about Chad Jackson in 2006ish....not sure when....but Brady said something to the effect of, "Let's pump the brakes a bit here, he's only a rookie...."
Only two rookie receivers have made immediate impact in 20 years...Deion Branch and Malcolm Mitchell... oh...Gronk and Hernadez too....but that is a short list....
I'll be interested to see if Williams is activated tomorrow and takes some of Chung's reps. He was very good against big receivers and against the run. We also might get a Harris sighting as well. All the guys on the outs Tomorrow should be Ready to go on Thursday. Good Roster Management by BB and co. Also this is one of the easiest two games turnaround by any Team couldn't have it any easier. It gets even better Three easy games if you count the Jets.
Not liking that Chung is out. These injuries are piling up
Went to the redskins forum and a mix of the posts were "take it easy on us" and "we are going to shock the world"
Yeah.. immediate impact is what comes to mind when people talk about Mitchell..
He had two games over 50 yards in the regular season. In week 9 and week 11.
He was great in the playoffs but calling that immediate impact is a bit of a stretch. If you do that then you will have to give Meyers and Harry a lot more time to also get there.
When exactly did Burkhead get hurt? He was active for Buffalo I thought but didn't see him in, was it on a special teams play or something?
When is Burkhead not hurt?
I agree...but I wonder what Brady's answer would've been if the question were about his TEs...I don't think he said anything all that bad. I certainly wouldn't compare it to Kyrie. Yes, maybe he shouldn't have said some of the things he did. But it isn't like he threw any of those guys under the bus. Here is probably the worst thing he said.
("We’ve had a lot of young players over the years try to come into our offense,” Brady said on WEEI. “It’s a challenging position, because there’s a lot that’s put on receivers. Young players, it’s hard to count on (them). There’s not a lot of young players who have had major contributions in our offense. That’s just the reality of that position. )
Should he have said this? Probably not. But let's not blow it up to make it a bigger deal than it is either. It is only so odd because it is Brady and he's usually so perfect about not giving any sign of displeasure to the press about these things.
You could probably find something equally bad or much worse from every veteran QB who has ever played in the NFL just about.
From the Pats' Reddit sub:
I’m pretty sure that he’s been dealing with it for a solid couple of weeks. I think there’s some roster mgmt in play tomorrow with the quick turnaround for Thursday night. When exactly did Burkhead get hurt? He was active for Buffalo I thought but didn't see him in, was it on a special teams play or something?
