Burkhead's averaging 2 yards more per carry behind the same ineffective line, and Michel has heretofore offered less than nothing in the passing game. The Patriots line still features three of the better linemen in the game, so it's not like it's some Giants-like complete disaster.

Burkhead isn't doing a better job in the same situation running the football. And Mason has been incredibly poor to start the season.

Which is why Burkhead has been getting more carries as of late.
This is not correct
Burkhead carries 8,5,11
Michel 15,21,9
In game 2 he played well gaining 85 yards.
Burkhead got more carries last week because we played without a FB and James white was out. Our game plan reduced the power running and included more 2 rb passing sets and burkhead replaces white.
We are a game plan team and a personell group team.
I wonder if Bill could go back in time he'd pick Nick Chubb instead?
I think he’s pretty happy with Michel contributing a lot to a championship.
I could be wrong but I think Belichick values championships more than good stars in the first 3 weeks while going 1-2.

I don't disagree that there's a coaching aspect. The fact he's not used in the passing game does allow teams to key him when he's in there. It's not like he can't catch the ball, he did it in college. So not sure if it's a coaching or mental hangup there.
Adjusted for down and distance he patriots throw the ball a very normal amount when Michel is on the field.
The personell groupings and down and distances he is in does not lend itself to a lot of throws to the RB and considering we are averaging over 10 yards per pass play with Michel on the field I’m not sure why we would want to change anything.

Definitely a 1 contract player for us with those knees. I may be in the minority but I still love the pick for what he did last year. That power run game was crucial for title#6.

Agreed. He won’t be the flashy stud RB a lot of us want. But he was worth the pick for the super bowl run.

The knee thing is still just an unsourced rumor from Mike Lombardi that everyone rehearses as fact.

I would argue he was pretty flashy to end the year. He always starts slow. He will be good again soon...

@BaconGrundleCandy - I agree with your assessment. Michel was an explosive, dynamic college runner and something changed since he was drafted, I'm not sure what.

I have a hunch it's a mental/coaching thing, like a focus on ball security, because he looked like his old self in the preseason game against the Panthers, and was really flashing.

Check out some of his initial highlights in this video - looks special, I remember everyone being blown away by how explosive he looked. I was really excited to watch him after seeing that, but he hasn't been the same in the regular season.

It was a preseason game. Also, with Develin, Andrews, Wynn and Cannon in the lineup.

Not shocking. Brown's probably going to win a favorable settlement in any case, so I wouldn't get my hopes up about too much cap relief in league year 2020 anyways.

This is a huge Flub by Kraft.

You declared the Patriots out of it in November last season. What happened...you remember? Please STFU about YOUR unbelievable skills at evaluating players. In the end you're just another message board mook with a streak of convenient amnesia when you trip over your lower unit. Here's hoping THIS post makes you smile, Gnarr C. Sist.
Wow so you're a liar & half ******ed. I never said anything even remotely close to that. Please pull up any post of me saying anything like that.

*still waiting on any post saying anything like that you slurper*

More homework in between meth hits
As evaluating players please show me anyone w better record that has an actual record.

You were the dumbass that compared Jimmy G to Mark Sanchez.

Sit down & be humble. You've routinely displayed you have no idea what you're talking abt.

You're a piece of furniture that no one wants to throw away.

Still nothing? Can't pull up 1 post backing up your claim?

I get it. Like someone who pm'd said, you're the drunkin uncle no one takes seriously. Can't talk actual football so you live in the jets suk thread. Making a claim like you did is a b|tch move tho. I've never ever said anything like that. Ever.

Absolute b|tch move. You've done that before questioning my loyalty to the team. Anyone who reads my post, go through my history knows I'm a real fan. Actually from Boston/Ctown.

I can't imagine anyone disagreeing w that assessment but then again this forum is mostly homers who only watch New England play.

Anyone that watched Sony in college can see he's a different guy. Apparently that bothers some burpers who think its smart to draft a RB Rd1 not understanding its the easiest position in all of sports to transition from college to pros.

Posters are literally sounding so casual talking abt OL > RB. Yea no **** but once & a while, esp when you draft RB Rd1 you expect a special player that can create on their own. Sony, as those clips show did do that in college a ton. Its more than fair to wonder what happened, why etc...

Anyone volunteer to edit this paper?

Compared to last year’s run game, we have lost Andrews, Gronkowski, Allen, Trent Williams and Develin. The guys replacing this amazing group is Karras, Izzo, LaCosse, Newhouse, Jakob Johnson. What are we expecting but a massive massive drop off. And that’s what we’re getting. Run game is pathetic.

The thread that just won't die....
