Meyers & Harry

Likely not happening, probably at least one of them will miss some time along the way. I'm most intrigued by Harry's potential and am hoping he has time to get FULLY healed before he is needed.

If you broke both of your legs tomorrow, and then had your hips shattered the next day, in an accident, you'd still be capable of getting as open as Harry was during most of the preseason.

And, given the way the Patriots offense is set up, that's a problem.

Let’s not forget, the Pats won the SB last year with Edelman, Gronk, White, and mostly nobody else. I mean they had Dorsett but hardly used him. Hogan was a shell of his former self. Just not a strong receiving group.

I’m pretty sure that when they have Edelman, Gordon, Dorsett, Harry, Meyers, Watson, and White, that their offense should be just fine.

I take it you don't like Harry's prospects.

Let's just say that we need the troika of Edelman/Gordon/Dorsett to stay healthy, and non-suspended, all season.

If one of the three is not healthy, then we will need to count on Myers (nest few games) or Harry or Meredith later in the season.

But, yes, the offense will suffer if any of our top 3 WR's are injured.

That's not really accurate, because it ignores the context involved with Dorsett's playing time. Dorsett saw a lot of time when Gordon wasn't playing.

In the first 5 weeks of the season, his snap count percentages (rounded) were:

76
90
94
70
70

From week 6 to week 14, they plummeted:

4
13
7
17
23
13
22
9
3

before going up again, once Gordon was back on the shelf:

36
57

And then there were the playoffs (5 catches on 8 targets, with 2 TDs).

I think he's got the problems of being a rookie, being injured long term and missing prep time, and not showing separation. And all of those are bad in the Patriots offense.

So, no, I'm not particularly high on Harry's prospects, for at least this season. I'm hopeful, because now they need him, but I'm not optimistic.

Yes, we might need Harry. My hope is that either our top 3 stay healthy, or that Myers can step in if one of the top 3 goes down. For me, Harry and Meredith are long shots to be very productive this year.

This seems a "good and fairly normal" position to be in going into Game 3. We have confidence in our Top 3, and we have hopes for our backup/#4. And we have a Plan B for the second half, if needed.

I felt encouraged by some of what he showed in camp and limited preseason action and think the jury's still out on what he might offer yet this season. I don't know about the "not showing separation" concern -- he's not a burner but neither is Gordon. Like Gordon, one of Harry's strengths is fighting for the ball in traffic (slants, sideline back-shoulder, red zone target, etc.).

I still like Deborah Harry...

him too...

Fyi, Gordon is still very fast. Just don’t look like it because he’s a goliath out there.

I know how fast he is and he's not nearly as fast as he used to be.

This is true however...the OL right now isn't that level. It needs to be so much better when we face actual teams coming up

But the differences between now and other years are significant. The extraordinarily weak TE position, and the fact that Gordon is one moment of weakness away from being done, make it more important that the team have viable WRs more than 3 deep. And, since the team shipped Thomas off to New York, and (according to reports) Mr. Happy Ending decided to get virtuous and indignant about someone else's actions when he should have known better, the team is not really in good position with that, right now, unless one of the rookies does decidedly non-rookie things.

"needs to be so much better"? I'm not so sure about that.

They need to stay healthy and build chemistry. The Steelers DL gave the OL fits last season, so I wouldn't read much into the occasional pressure in game 1 of this season.

OL struggled last week for understandable reasons, with injuries and intense heat.

Get Newhouse settled in at LT, and LG-RT should be just fine assuming Cannon is healthy. Once Wynn returns I see no reason that this OL is top-10, likely top-5 in the league.

If history tells us anything, rookie wr don't contribute much in BB teams. It takes time to learn the offense and also to gain Brady trust.
We lost AB, but this is still a great wr corps if they are all healthy.
Harry is the most talented of the two, and, if healthy, he would be wr4 in this team.
And Watson and LaCosse will help in the passing game. The RBs too.
I think Harry, Meyers and even meridith are been kept and prepared as part of next year wide receivers

Other than to catch the only postseason TD passes Brady threw, yeah.

Gronk, a great OL and impact blocking from the TE position mean a whole lot in terms of playoff football

This year’s TE and OL are nowhere close to last year’s team in terms of blocking. Maybe the OL rebounds when/if Wynn and Cannon are 100% but the TE blocking is many steps below last year
