Antonio Brown

Before we get the pitchforks out, let's treat Brown as I would if he played for the Pats or Steelers or anyone. There is a presumption of innocence until facts prove otherwise. If Tawana Brawley, Duke Lacrosse or Covington Catholic ( and Kavanaugh )proved anything, it is that mob rule before the facts can railroad innocent people and ruin their lives....
Certain things are troublesome, such as going back for the third time after he gratified himself on her back. Why would she do that? who knows but people often do things that defy logic. My wife is an attorney representing victims of domestic violence and often the victim will go back to their abuser or refuse to testify despite horrific injuries...
I'd like to know if she pursued a criminal charge and did prosecutors decline or did alleged victim go straight to lawsuit. If they were in a consensual relationship, that certainly complicates it. Was there anyone told about these actions contemporaneously by either Brown or the woman??? The fact that Brown backed out of a $1.6 million deal complicates things. I'm reserving judgment until more facts are known. If it turns out that he is innocent, suspending him causes irreparable damage as he cant get those games back. If he is guilty and it can be proven, missing games will be the least of his worries...

Studies vary, and they give a range of false accusations of about 2% to about 40%.

I'd also bet that, whatever the baseline number is, it's substantially higher for wealthy public figures. Which is just another way of saying that even if only 2% of accusations are false, that doesn't mean there's only a 2% chance that this one is. ****, he wouldn't even be the only current Patriots WR to be hit with a false accusation.

Which is basically just all the more reason to withhold judgment of both the accuser and accused and see what facts come out.

If she was unaware he was jacking off and he sprayed it on her back, she has a sex harassment case. That's not the kind of thing you do to a girl and then say "surprise!" She's got a complaint on that even if they had sex before.
Yes, Yes, Yes.
And she should have reported a harassment right then and there. IMO

This is a serious allegation, but I am numbed to negative media attention to my team thanks to the various gates. I actually find it funny. I just don't want us to do something as stupid and rash as the Chiefs did with Hunt.

The chiefs cut him because hunt lied to their face. One can only hope that isn't the case with Brown. He may not have disclosed it but if Pats asked him or his agent about it and they lied (which by all indications did not occur), then they would probably cut him imo

Still see a bunch of BS personal attacks on this woman intended to completely undermine her character. Because she's getting married she's clearly only in it for money? Seriously? Can we stop that garbage?

It's no different than immediately jumping to the conclusion that Brown is rapist scum, and using elements of his life/behavior not directly related to this incident as evidence that he's unethical and dishonest. They're both terrible takes.

If Taylor's gym and wedding are evidence that she's being dishonest and hunting money with this lawsuit, then is Brown's behavior in Oakland, and his texts/emails to Taylor, evidence that he's not credible? Again, both ends of the spectrum are equally disingenuous.

Let the evidence play out before vilifying either party and reaching conclusions that are entirely based on assumption/speculation, and not evidence

I've not been weighing in on guilt or innocence, and I'll continue with that approach, but I think we need some clarification of your post. Are you really trying to argue that evidence of possible fraud on the part of the accuser isn't relevant for discussion here?

I think the Pats are in the we dont' give a **** mode about what you think. Let the inverstigation bring out the truth, in the mean time we will just play football. Want to talk about football?
Look at the song list they are playing at practice. Damn..

There's approximately a million examples of sexual immorality in the Bible, if that's what you're getting at.
I was reacting to that "old fashioned" moral rectitude whose demise you were bemoaning. It was purely cosmetic, hiding slavery, rape, racism, mysogyny, genocide, and so on. Spare us the "good old days". They really weren't all that great for many. In the aggregate, we really are better off now than in the good old days.

How can the DA look into the case without there being a police report? I'm sure the statute of limitations has run already and she can't file a police report now...

For sexual assault/rape, you have more than 2 years.

PennsylvaniaPennsylvania.

FloridaFlorida.

Show me where I was bemoaning anything please.

And I'm not talking about morality here. So please stop with the idea that I am. I specifically said I'm not going there and that this isn't about being a "good" or "bad" person.

I think the copy of the texts/emails is pretty damning against Brown. Though heavy in whatever Brown passes for as English nowadays (some wacky thug street talk that is virtually un-deciferable), right off the bat he admits to ejaculating on her back (not the term he used). That matches one part of her story (one of the 3 sexual assaults/rapes she claimed happened).

I think his days are numbered.

Speaking of numbers, by giving Brown a jersey number of #1, this is classic Belichick trolling the NFL and maybe even Brown himself. I think he knows Brown will probably never play a game for the Pats. I truly believe things will only get worse the next few days. Honestly, I want him to cut Brown asap. IF he goes on the Commisioner's Exempt list (rumors swirling towards the NFL taking that action), he can't play or practice, yet the Pats still have to pay him, which would be ridiculous.

Still angry about them trading DT, it'll prove to be a dumb move.

I inferred nothing about my perspective other than what I stated, that yours in referring to marriage as 'just a label' was very poorly thought out. So I guess you could say my 'perspective' is that yours could use some work. You compounded the error by reading between lines that were single spaced in terms of what someone else might 'seem to be referring to.'

Again, if at any point I incorrectly assumed something about your beliefs/feelings/perspective, then let me be the first to apologize.

I acknowledge that my "just a label" quip was poorly conceived and wrong. I proceeded to clarify my perspective.

Ideally, yes but it seems to be pretty common for victims of sexual assault to not immediately report it for a wide variety of reasons.

It would have helped for investigative and evidence collection purposes but it doesn’t really make her account any more or less believable.

If the Pats were planning on cutting him, he wouldn’t be practicing today. They are going to make the league sit him. Same with Chung and Kraft. They are not helping the league at all.

Hmmm she’s not filing a criminal complaint. Definitely possible she’s taking advantage of his recent bad press and going for some $.

This thread has really been enlightening. I didn’t know when two or more persons were in a consensual sexual relationship that they were to act like angels and limit their texts of Any sexual references.

There are countless long-term couples who cohabitate and are extremely happy together, but choose to not get formally/traditionally married. Likewise, there are countless married couples who sleep in separate rooms and have a toxic marriage.

A traditional/formal marriage does not guarantee morally fulfilling sex, in the same way that a lack of marriage does not guarantee unfilling, immoral sex.

It's absurd that anyone dislikes this post or finds it disagreeable. It's literally fact. Some married couples are miserable, some unmarried couples have a fulfilling and happy relationship. That does not mean all unmarried couples are happy and all married couples are miserable. FFS.

You tossed in the word "Immoral". For many, sex outside of marriage is inherently immoral. That being the case, it's not at all absurd that some people would find your post disagreeable.

I do wish Ian would either ditch the disagree and dislike buttons, or at least require an explanation go along with the tagging, though.

Guessing you never scored a hooker with a ****...:D

I couldn't resist...tone deaf etc... I know but it made me laugh.

Oh my dear sweet summer child...

A superstar athlete came on a groupie’s back? Wow yeah that totally means he took advantage and brutally raped her....

Antonio Brown is famous to the point where he can sleep with any woman he wants. He “raped” her just as much as Neymar “raped” his so-called accuser. And what happened there? Total bullsh*t.

This is a money grab.

Someone's gotta pay for the honeymoon...

This is A LOAD OF SH*T.

Chaste bridge there wonder who's walking her down the aisle?? Can't help but feel a little dirty...seems like she was persuaded to do this by maybe new hubby?? Get your name dragged in the mud for a couple million people could do worse Hmmmmm.
