2019 draft retrospective and notes on 2020

Watching Terry McLaurin go for 5 catches 125 yards and 1 TD is a little painful, but not too bad since we picked up Brown.

Still, I really like the Ole Miss WRs, McLaurin, and Harry, so I'm satisfied we got one of em. AJ Brown also had a 100 yard day, and Metcalf is at 3 catches for 64 yards. I thought he was the most prototypical X in the draft, while McLaurin is a perfect Z, and Harry can line up anywhere. I'll follow all of their careers closely.

Also lowkey worried about Diontae Johnson on the Steelers. He reminds me an awful lot of AB.
Yep, looks like there will be some good WRs from this draft class...I really really hope (pray?) that Harry is one of them, eventually...

McLaurin was always going to be one of those that hurts for me. Aside from Hollywood, he could end up the best WR from the whole class.

Don't rule out Brown...or our very own Harry

Playing the waiting game on Harry. Not even sure he’ll end up our best rookie WR. Both Browns will be very good. Interesting that Isabella couldn’t get much traction in Arizona so far.

...And aside from Hockenson, could BC's Tommy Sweeney end up being the best TE from its own class? It still sickens me that Bill couldn't figure out a way to draft just one feckin TE with all the picks he had...we instead are subject to the complete, utter suckiness of Dumbass Izzo & the execrable Matty LaCost...Inexcusable.

There are two things that make me feel better about no TE.

1. They went early. As you remember, I was a fan of Drew Sample but he went 2nd round

2. I really like the picks we did make. Would you rather have a TE than Winovich? Maybe Dawson Knox instead of Damian Harris is one I could have gone for.

I'm big on Harry and even bigger on JJ Williams (I think he can be a poor man's Richard Sherman in 2-3 years), but prior to the Draft I would have wanted AJ Brown and Irv Smith Jr with their picks

Anyone think drafting Dalton Risner still makes sense in the first? He’s the Broncos starting LG, but he spent three years at K State as the ROT.

OT is our greatest weakness.

That’s why Belichick has been wheeling and dealin.

Ha. Had to think who JJ Williams was for a bit. I just think of him as JoeJuan. I accepted the Harry pick, but didn’t love it. I wonder if any TE out of this class not named Hockenson becomes a genuine no1 TE. Only time will tell.

I liked the Harry pick myself at the time it was made...in fact I wrote that I Loved the pick...didn't know he was made of glass though...

I absolutely Hated the SloJuan pick, especially the trade-up aspect of it: completely unnecessary and a waste of precious draft capital (again!)...

Still disagree with the Damien Harris over Dawson Knox decision...too one-sided in favor of All value vs Not quite the same value but Much Higher need...

Still don't like Either of the OL selections...I would've taken OT Bobby Evans at 97 (just as the LAR did) if Bill didn't have to trade it to recoup #101, thrown-away in the SloJuan trade; I also would've taken Mike Jordan at 118 instead of Frodo the T-Rex because of Jordan's versatility, including Center...

Even at 252, there was Still a draft-worthy TE available in Caleb Wilson, but Bill decided that he needed Yet Another DB there...who didn't make the team...and is now in Miami...

Besides the aforementioned Wilson, fellow 7th-rounders Alize Mack & Isaac Nauta are on practice squads...At least one of those 3 should be on our own 53...as in Right Feckin Now.

Not that concerned about TE right now considering the options we have in the receiving game. Of course, flame outa from Gordon and Brown and things start to look different. Disagree on Joejuan. I loved that pick (nice nickname though).

The overreactions based on week 1 are a bit much to me.

Unfortunately, Clowntonio has already left the building...Meanwhile, at TE:

Irv Smith
Dawson Knox
Tommy Sweeney

...and the guy Bill chose instead of Knox:
Damien Harris

I think it’s possible Harry becomes a weapon post-bye week, but Brady’s frustration yesterday left an awful lot like 2011. I’m really hoping Harry can added some much needed depth, cause Dorsett got eaten up yesterday.

I agree about the Williams/Knox decision. Hard to pass on the value of Williams, but the need and upside was so high with Knox.

Don’t love the TEs this year either, but it’s still early on that front.

2011? Brady looked that frustrated as recently as this time last year, especially while 11 was suspended and before JG arrived

The lack of a power run game may hold this team back from the ultimate goal, man does this team miss 87, JD, and any presence at TE

I'm also excited for Harry to (hopefully) return, can only return two of Harry, Wynn, and Devlin unfortunately, either of them would help

And agreed, early as hell, but I'm not too fond of this TE class...I wanted AJ Brown and Irv Smith last spring, but accepted Harry and Williams

Man would Brown and Smith look swell in NE right now

And yes, Knox looks like a baller
