So, you believe that KC is an overwhelming favorite to beat BALT in the divisional round of the playoffs?

  1. I think the AFC is a two team race.
  2. I think we have seen nothing to make that a questionable take.
  3. I think it's week one, and things can change, which is why "right now" is an appropriate sort of disclaimer.

I think one of our posters said it best.

"I'd say that there are too many variables to be overly confident about either team's chances in that game, right now"

Overwhelming doesn't mean sure thing.

Pat Mahomes vs. Lamar Jackson in the playoffs?

It's early yet, but...........ummmm........

.

Why is everyone so obsessed with Adam Humphries?

We have another OL injury and that "2 team race" comment will have a really short shelf life.

It's week ONE of a 17 week marathon, that DOESN'T include the playoffs. So much of this game relies on how healthy your team is during the grind. Nothing is guaranteed on that score, and no one is going to allow you to use it as an excuse.

Besides all we did was add an elite WR. How did that work for Cleveland? OBJ didn't move the needle a spec. Why, because the Titans beat the crap out of the Cleveland OL and DL. When that happens it doesn't matter who you have at WR.

To be fair, better teams have been blown out by those Titans. My preseason prediction was that the Browns would look bad in September, get buried by everyone, then end up 9-7. So far so good.

He’s the girl they asked out on a date but got turned down. Now they stalk her to see how she is doing.

I was just thrilled to hear we didn’t sign him, or Jared Cooks. Both offers seemed very un-Patriot like...desperate offers in a weak free agency market. Sometimes not making the deal turns out to be the best move.

I thought the Cook one was fairly reasonable, but only in the context that we didn't foresee Antonio Brown becoming available. That was pretty late in free agency.

And if they signed here they would’ve been crowned “steals” and the bird would gush over them.

Deus included the injury caveat in his original post.

As for "all we did was add an elite receiver" and not moving the needle a spec, that's not how you measure this move...

The Pats are going to win 12+ games most likely, with or without AB. From that standpoint, yes, the needle doesn't move. History has borne that out. The Pats are also likely to pull out a playoff game or two on the margins. History has borne that out, too, whether it's Malcom Butler holding onto a pick he otherwise drops 99 times out of 100, 28-3, two 14pt deficits vs. Baltimore, Dee Ford lining up offsides and plenty of other examples. Antonio Brown's signing is to increase that margin, to create what little extra breathing room that can be had.

Regards,
Chris

One hand, he seems like a guy who would wear out his welcome if he's here for more than one season. (No sht, right.)

On the other, the Patriots offered a first round pick for him just a few months ago. I doubt they would have done that if they only expected to have him for one year.

I don’t trust him for more than a season. Let him salvage some of his reputation then let him go for a big pay day.

What is it with you and always criticizing elite WRs? Like you think having one is a detriment to a team
