Now Thomas might not play?

No I bet Thomas plays, however I wouldn't be surprised to see Lacosse inactive on Sunday

Hard to play with only 1 TE.
I assume under the old system all 3 would be probable.

Does that explain why the quack football doctor Chao thought Thomas wasn't 100%?

I don't know Andy. Over the long term yes, but I think this might be a one or 2 game issue, and I can see the Pats using Gordon or Thomas in the slot occasionally to get a big man in on seam routes as well as using them against shorter Steeler CB's. The Steelers web site depth chart lists their 3 starting CB's at 5'11, 5'11, 5'9. They do have a rookie who is 6'2 who was their comp pick in the 3rd round. So the Pats would seem to have a size advantage at least.

Lacosse was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain which has a 8 week cure time in most cases. I think this is the first week Lacosse has even dressed for practice since his injury, so even if healthy he makes DT look like a grizzled vet as far as comfort in the offense goes. That's why I have him on the inactive roster. I'm hoping that by next week he can practice full bore and if not we have Kendricks coming back from suspension next week.

What do you do in short yardage and goal line?

God Andy, it wouldn't be the first time the Pats sent an OT out to play TE in a GL formation to go along with Izzo. Have a little imagination.
God Ken, would it be the first time we used one as TE2? I don’t recall ever doing that.
Which OL are we using since none of the backups have practiced with us before this week?
And why would we IR our #1 draft choice WR in order to keep LaCosse and not IR him if LaCosse is too injured to play if we are just going to eliminate TE and replace them with. WR?

I think TE1 will get less use than previously but I don’t think that affects how much TE2 is used. The situations where you use an extra wr instead of a TE are different from the situations where you use 2 TEs.

Thomas is coming off major surgery, and is still an injury risk. Gordon is a risk to be suspended weekly. Anyone who says our WR group is deep or a strength is out of their mind.

It absolutely is deep and a strength. Your fear of how it could change doesnt make it less talented or deep.

You’re the biggest Pat’s homer on here. I don’t think you have it in you to be objective.

Edelman
Gordon
Thomas
Dorsett
Meyers

With Harry to come back in week 8

Is as talented and deep as this team has had in 10 years. It is among the best in the nfl.
It is absolutely a strength.

Got news for you when you are fans of the greatest dynasty ever the guy called a “homer” is the one who is objective and the guy called a “chicken little” is the one who is improperly biased.

Disagree. The biggest Pats homer (which is a positive being a Pats fan) is @PATSNUTme. We all hope to be as fervent as he is. I don't what you are.
