Crossen was one of our most used special teamers last year, and has prospects at corner.

Dawson is an enigma, and may have a role as a safety.

We tend to have 8 positions defensive backs: 5 corners and 3 safeties, with the some of the corners playing lots of special teams. We've added Brooks to the mix. It seems that he can play some safety, in addition to being a top Ster. That make 9 position DB's. Ordinarily, I wouldn't favor a 10th positional DB, but maybe this year is the exception.

CROSSEN

Crossen is a lock already because of special teams. The other DB's I watched covering the gunners were mediocre which included JC Jackson, JoeJuan Williams, Duke Dawson, and others I can't remember. Not to mention Crossen can also play gunner well enough.

Crossen

I always liked Crossen
I don't really like the guy. Every time there was a big play or it was 3rd down last season he seems to be the guy who gave up the conversion when he's playing on defense. But he's a beast on special teams so he's in.

I think he was a little out of control last season. He "seems" to be a more in control so far in training camp / pre-season. I thought Dawson would be the better player because of draft position....but it doesn't appear to the be the case. I also think Crossen is going to be an excellent Special Teamer.

At least he got playing time, unlike Dawson (even after he returned from IR)

That's because Crossen is a beast on special teams. I don't know who's better on defense. I think Crossen, but not enough sample size.

Dawson has shown absolutely nothing.

Probably swallow the loss with Dawson, and stick with Crossen.

If Crossen in his current form was in year 3 rather than year 2, would probably lean towards Dawson. But looking at both of them in year 2, and applying some of the reasoning/rationale in keeping Dawson because of potential, I think the same can be said with Crossen in that he appears to have room to grow.

I guess, you presuming that Ebner is gone. Otherwise, Crossen is not a lock at all.

Honestly I don't know what position Ebner plays on ST besides seeing him on punt protector once. But I assume Ebner is a lock too.

Slater, Ebner, Crossen, King, Bolden will be core ST'ers? Maybe Brooks makes the team too for ST?

Wow.
Dawson is an enigma? Because he was injured in his rookie season? Is Wynn an enigma? Sam? Izzo? Berrios?

Crossen was one of our most used special teamers last year? Sure about that?
He played 113 st snaps. The 18th most on the team.

Are you saying if Dawson managed 39 snaps on defense and snuck into the top 20 in st snaps you’d feel better about him and he wouldn’t be an enigma?

What about Lawson?

Dawson is not an enigma, he is not a very good NFL football player. He has allowed multiple 20+ yard catches. He has had multiple penalties. Now he is on his way to failing at a second position in just over a year in the league. I'm sad to say it but he is a bust and he is performing poorly in the deepest position group on the team.
We should just stop bringing in Gators. Jermaine Cunningham (when we should've taken his teammate Carlos Dunlap), Hernandez, Spikes (sadly the best of the bunch), Easley, and Chad Jackson are just a few I can think of off the top of my head.
