OT looks like Jimmy G had a tough outing

I can see now my post was taken the wrong way by a number of people. I must have thousands of posts on here. About half of them have been killing people making the argument that Brady is a system QB. "Reinforces the narrative" is just another way of saying "The crap people say..."
I knew what you meant homie

The problem is that the narrative is a non-starter.

''Patriots QB go elsewhere and stink.''

But again, Jimmy G and Jacoby combined for a career 3-1 record. Why are we pretending that these two guys have won a SB and then went AWOL out of NE?

Jimmy G went to the 49ers, and helped them win 5 games after the team was 1-10 without him. That's 10 more impressive than anything he did with New England.

The Pats scored 0 points with Brissett against the Bills in week 4, at home, and scored 41 with Brady back in Buffalo a month later.

I don't mind dumb arguments that take a spin on a factual assessment, as at least you can understand why a hater would believe that, but this ''Patriots system meme'' is pure garbage.

For people that are either younger or don't remember, these are same arguments all the way back from 2006 when Manning had Harrison and Wayne while Brady was throwing to Reche Caldwell. When Brady got weapons in 2007, he destroyed every QB and offensive record and those arguments completely died out.

Then, the haters ''Dear Father...'' was Spygate...yes Brady is as great as advertised but the Pats are cheaters! Then it was Deflagate. Once they won two more and the scandals lost their meaning it was again, Brady is a system QB, Belichick is the reason the Pats win. After last years SB, it was: ''Brady is more important'' but who cares the Pats lost! It's over, they're not winning a SB again! This year, the Miami fiasco that lost us a bye if not for Nick Foles, the second half of the Chiefs game, etc were all forgotten and forgiven, Brady had a mediocre SB and again he ''became'' a system QB.

I mean, freakin Rodgers, a player that hasn't seen a playoff game for two years, magically jumped over every QB including Montana during these 2 years, just so Brady can have a contemporary rival. Remember the Pats-Packers promo from last season with Michael Jordan saying whoever wins is the GOAT?

A lot of people hate the Pats and a lot of people are ignorant and don't bother to fact check or think about anything that they hear on TV or read on Twitter. As long as it confirms their bias, it's great. When every dummy out there can voice his opinion on Twitter and when failed rappers like Max Kellerman become influencers, while having absolutely no knowledge about the game of football, it's becomes an everyday occurrence to read these type of inanities.

PS: It was obvious from the start that you don't share that opinion but i still felt the need to write about it.:)

Well, you left out the most obvious example. Cassel.

But as I've pointed out to quite a few people, Cassel was an 7 win drop off from Brady, & he had much more success in his 2nd year in KC than he ever did in New England, as he lead them to the playoffs, had a high QB rating, and made the Pro Bowl.

Still, his career tanked after that.

He got hurt the following year and was never the same.

This reinforces the narrative about Brady being just another JAG, since scrubs like Cassel, Brisset and Garoppolo did so well in this "system."

I think I'll trust the many football people who thought Garoppolo was the real deal instead. His problem is that he's frail.

99% of people who say this about Brady are just trying to get a rise out of Patriot fans and they don’t actually believe it.

You're so wrong on this. Not only do they believe it, but even the radio hosts in Buffalo discuss it seriously. How many Patriots fans do you think the radio hosts in Buffalo are trying to get a rise out of? Not many in town, not many are listening at all. It is a serious belief. Even NFL players say it.

Oh I’ve heard the discussion about whether BB is the reason for Brady’s success but I’ve never heard any discussion in the last decade meant to be serious about Brady as a JAG or a system guy, at least not from people not trying to yank our chains.

Guys like Rob Parker of course in the latter category.

Bart Scott recently said Brady would never leave NE because he’s a system guy and would get exposed anywhere else. He also said his Jets teams rattled him to the point he was “seeing ghosts”.

Don’t agree with the first statement but agree with the second.

Well maybe Bart can have a little sign under his name in the football Hall of Fame that says his teams made Tom Brady see ghosts

Oh wait...

To be fair, he was just answering a question, he wasn’t gloating about it.

Not gonna worry all that much about Jimmy G until he starts having bad performances in live time. He's recovered from major injuries before.

Is he still dating the porn star? He could do so much better on and off the field.

I disagree with the second.

Brady used to frequently do that ducking thing when he heard footsteps behind him. He doesn't do that anymore, but that maneuver allowed him to elude several rushes.

Regarding a return to NE, I believe after either this/next year, SF can dump Jimmy G with only $4M dead money. Interesting to say the least...

If you listen to him for more than 5 minutes, you realize he's a CTE candidate.

One bad game, I won’t trash him yet but some guys who come back from major injuries are gun shy for a while

Everyone knows Jimmy Perfect G saves his best for the first 6 quarters of the season

One more injury and fans will start calling him Glassoppolo. Strange things can happen to players when they start worrying about injuries. JG was saved by a drop on a sure pick six against the Broncos. It happened because he threw off his back foot as if he was saying "He ain't open but I ain't taking this hit!"

Stidham was lucky vs the Titans but let's not forget Brady had some of the same luck going on. He threw a pick six against the Falcons in the SB, another pick to the Chiefs in the endzone in a goal-to-go situation in the AFCCG and another one that was saved by a doofus lining up offside. And his first pass vs the Rams was picked off in the last SB. All Patriots victories. Stuff happens.

Why in the world would you worry about Jimmy G? He's a 49er. Who gives a **** what he does or doesn't do?
