How many times can one say it. At 42 Brady, with all his accomplishments, has reached the point of being a year to year player. It is simply a prudent situation for both player and team. As long as Bill thinks Brady is the best QB option for the Pats, he will be the QB. It's as simple as that.
It wasn't Kraft or Brady that instigated the JG trade. He was traded because he was Bill's SECOND best option at QB and would have been lost at the end of the year at ANY case. It also should be noted that the Pats have been to the Superbowl every year since the trade.
BTW- another thought about Brady. A lot has been made of Brady's "fallen off" performance last season. But think about this, fallen off from WHAT. The season before he was the freakin' MVP of the league. OF COURSE he was likely to "fall off" from that incredible year.
It will be interesting to see how Brady responds to his so-called "bad year". In the past, EVERY time Brady has a "bad year" he responded by having a better season. This season Brady added weight, worked on his mobility within the pocket, and worked to strengthen his arm.
There are a LOT of things that determine how well a QB plays. But I wouldn't be surprised that Brady doesn't "fall off a cliff" or even decline incrementally, though those this reasonably could happen. I believe he will do what he always does, bounce back.
