PFT: Brady reiterates desire to play until 45

TB Sr. said that he thought it would end badly in New England. Looks like it is trending that way.

It would be an incredible stroke of luck and good timing if Brady suddenly felt his age at the exact same time that Belichick thinks he has a successor and wants to move on. I'm still pulling for that, but more than likely it's going to be misaligned by a year or two. The big wild card is Kraft. I think it's 80/20 that Kraft will always side with Brady, and keep him here as long as he wants to play. But (and this is the 20), if Brady ends up in denial about his own abilities, and it's clear to everyone but him that he's been surpassed, I think there's a limit to that generosity.

But honestly, until I start to see some real signs of that decline (and not just Kellerman's imaginary ones), I have no reason to believe it will look SO bad that even Kraft has to tell Brady, "Look kid, it's been a good run, but it's time to move on."

Brady is one super bowl appearance short of playing a full decade worth of super bowl games. The team owes him everything, in fact bob kraft should donate 10% of his franchise to Brady and should be kissing his feet any time Brady is within a mile radius of old Bobby

I'm still hopeful they work out an exit plan that works for both sides, one that ensures Brady never plays for another team.

If you block out everything the mediots have to say and just listen to the team and the player, what you are left with is a pair that gets the new contract done early or on time, every single time. Not for top dollar, but for good money where everybody is happy.

My worst nightmare is seeing him in like a Cincinnati uniform. Or even worse. The jete

Regardless of whatever happens here, and even if it ends messily, I think Brady has too much pride to ever wear a Jets uniform.

Brady has earned the right to go out when he wants to go out. He will not be playing at any other organization. Belichick might think he has pull, but Kraft will side with Brady.

And no, no other player has earned that right the way Brady has.

Kraft would lose both of them in that case, then, since BB’s deal is to manage the groceries and Brady is either playing “until he sucks” or until age 45... whichever happens first.

Believe me, Bill Belichick won't mistakenly "think he has pull" when he doesn't. Bill knows exactly what's going on all of the time. No flies on bim...

It never ceases to amaze me how much mileage that one off hand quote - made something like a decade ago - still gets.

Absolutely correct, Deb. But, I've become convinced that some, not all, but some of those here who bemoan the possibility of Brady ending up elsewhere don't want to "block out everything the mediots have to say." I think they secretly like what the mediots have to say.

Huh? It looks like it is trending Tom Brady's way. Have you missed the part where Kraft and Brady appear to defer to each consistently and get what's best for the team? And the fact that the Patriots keep winning championships? And there is no serious QB competition for the starters job?

An entire organization is supposed to defer to one player ......indefinitely?
Is this a Disney movie?

Not gonna be a popular sentiment and that is understandable. At some point it ends and I trust BB to know when that time is. Hope it is in 3 years, if not so be it.

My big worry is that Brady will still be good but Bill will think that he can get 75% of the production at 10% of the cost and consider that worth it.

Even then we still can keep Stidham, Brady will be 45 in 2022 and Stidham Will be on his 4th year which means in 2023 when he's a free agent we can tag and extend if he's "it" and I watched his Lions highlights a millions times and I know it's one pre season.

I think we got a steal and think he has "it" I remember reading an article that said back in 2017 he was projected to be a future 1st round pick but his situation and circumstances screwed that up which possibly played into our hand and got us a steal don't remember exactly what but from memory (switched schools, system, oline) but we'll see how that goes.

I don't buy into 'Brady has earned the right' to do anything. Contracts are based on future expectations, not past performance, at least in winning organizations.

I'm not even sure Brady thinks he's 'earned the right' to do anything.

He wants to play until 45 if possible. He also said he'd 'quit when he sucks'. Both things can be true for now. I just hope when that honest assessment comes, he does what's best for the Patriots, and not for Alex Guerrero.

Contacts are based upon the combination of past performance and projected potential future performance.

T'was ever thus.
