Hes a low- ceiling backup. Nothing more.
His ceiling has already reached effective contributor. I don’t think you throw away those kind of guys for guys who aren’t there yet but might have a chance to someday be a little more.
Braxton Berrios long shot ceiling isn’t nuch higher than Dorsetts current.

He is what he is with 4.3 speed. It is all about matchups. We don't need 4 slot guys, even if they have great hands, are really quick, or tall and can leap. Spreading the field means someone is open, and Dorsett helps to spread the field even if he is mediocre. We don't need superstars everywhere, role players, like Dorsett, will take us to another Super Bowl. Dorsett knows who he is and plays his role. Good guy even if he is not a binky with upside.
If we cut Dorsett and kept berrios last year we probably don’t win the Sb.

Who cares if he has a 4.3 speed. Hes not a deep threat.

Hes plateaued and as a WR4 who can't return kicks and punts hes mediocre.

Hes a low- ceiling backup. Nothing more.

Dorsett is a dependable receiver. You can count on him not dropping many passes, and filling in adequately, if there isn't too much responsibility. And Brady seems somewhat comfortable with him.

I'll add that from reports he seems to be a good role model at a position that sometimes needs one. They say he works hard, hangs in there when others pass him on the depth charts, and stays positive and focused without a lot of mistakes.

Sorry. IMO he has no upside.

Not every player has to have upside.

We have 2 players who have considerable experience with the system: Edelman and Dorsett. I would be fine with Dorsett as our #4. When and if Gordon comes back, THEN a decision would need to be made.

I'm not saying that Dorsett is a lock, but he seems a good choice to start the season if Gordon isn't there.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Pats divide up the snaps at RB this year between Michel, Burkhead, White, Harris, and Develin.

run plays Michel 60% Harris 25% White 10% 5% others

The way I see it you have Michel and Harris as your pure runners on the active roster with some pass catching ability with hopefully improves for both and White will get some carries but just to keep the defense honest not to actually be a workhorse or something like that.

As I hope, on pass plays it would be great if both of them are improved or in Harris case not really improved just solid and be a threat as a pass catcher to put them out there on 3rd and 3, 3rd and 4 to throw them some PA passes or screens.

Still White should get the majority of the passing play snaps. Of course unless Michel because a true dual threat RB which I doubt but that would be an immense development.

Giants continue to take hits early on. Golden Tate facing 4 games for an illegal substance in a fertility drug he was taking.

You have a false perception of Dorsett. He does not spread the field. He is not a consistent threat to get open. He struggles getting consistent separation. He won't win more than his share of 50/50 balls. Hes a nice WR4 who doesn't play STs. Thats his role and can absolutely be upgraded.

Pats are not loading up on "slot" guys. They are loading up on WRs with size who can play all WR positions that can fight for balls and be physical.

If any of the bigger WRs can contribute Day 1 and shows a higher ceiling than Dorsett he is gone.

We know what we have in Dorsett.

I'm making a prediction. We will see.

Hes a good team guy. I have nothing against him. Made some good plays last year.

Umm.. are they talking about Harris the RB or Harris the WR? They are two different players.

I think the first user was talking about Maurice Harris outperforming N'keal Harry after reading it again. I was talking about Damien Harris.

Dorsett is fine as a WR4.

I see Burkhead being the odd man out late in the year.. Harris riding the bench early. Bolden's Special Teams play earns him time over Burkhead and Harris..

It would be awesome if Rivers should emerge this season

I see Harris as a very talented RB and RBs don't need a lot time to be ready. I could see Harris bumping Burkhead out of the 46 roster right away.

Good stuff

"I think I'll be more involved this year defensively than I was in recent years," Belichick told NFL Network's Willie McGinest on Inside Training Camp Live. "This year will a little bit more, but I'm enjoying it. Eventually, I'll have less of a role. But for right now, just to try to get things underway this year, I'll try to be as much involved as I can."
I can’t believe he was so forthcoming about that. I like it.

Patriots training camp observations, Day 3: Session was perfect example of why not to read into things

-- Once again, Isaiah Wynn was very limited and departed for the lower field to work on conditioning. Joe Thuney took his place at left tackle with Ted Karras and James Ferentz filling in on the interior. I predict Thuney will look so good at LT in camp / preseason that he will be there all season. Wynn at LG

-- Players returning punts included: Chung, Braxton Berrios, Maurice Harris and Gunner Olszewski. Berrios needs to nail this to get on the 53. I hope he does.

-- Maurice Harris once again had a solid day at receiver and Harry had a nice back shoulder grab in the end zone on a Brian Hoyer throw. Predicting M. Harris will have more of an impact 1st half of the season then Harry.

-- Danny Etling was the last player off the field, as he was still catching passes an hour after the session. Danny to PS this year and be on the 53 2020.
