NBA Draft - Trades - Free Agents

I hope you're right about having a deal in place. The big guy in Memphis - Valanciunas , I think - is also a younger 7' free agent who would stabilize things a bit. But they still need a backup center unless they think last year's pick - Robert Williams - is ready. He didn't show us anything his rookie year and is a flake.

A bit wrong there. He hardly played last season and when he did he showed flashes of his enormous potential and then there were the numerous deer in the headlights moments. By all accounts after his post draft gaffes, he was one of the first ones in and last to leave all season and is there working hard this offseason.

He should play in summer league so it will be nice to see him and what his growth is.

i did. john beecher center to the bruins pick 30. 6/3 200 plus .
I was switching back and forth between that and the Sox game. Waiting to see the Bruins pick which I liked. Figuring he'll probably play for 2 seasons at Michigan and then come into the B's fold.

I like Williams but he’s another year away though I expect him to get a regular 10-15 min this year.....he can be a more athletic Capela, but his recognition and positioning was pretty bad last year....if he works at it he will have a big role

Looking forward to watching the summer league games ...

Even though it's pretty ugly ball ... horrendous even.

Tacko is a D leaguer but intriguing nonetheless

As Frank Lauren said about Mark Eaton:
“You can’t teach height”.

Edwards should shine there.

nobody is watching the nhl draft?

I love the NHL but I don't watch the draft since in many cases the draftees won't be in the NHL for several years anyway. Beecher was the Bruins first round pick but is going to the University of Michigan next year, for example.

Danny screwed up by-passing the Greek Freak in 2013, and now he's done it again with the French Freak, Sekou Doumbouya. Romeo would've provided better value at 22; if by the fairly decent chance that he's already taken, then Naz Little was the Best Player Available anyway, by Far.

Grant Williams' value lay Much closer to 33 than 22; but if he's taken at 33, then Bruno Fernando would've made an adequate replacement...more than adequate, in fact...perhaps some might even consider Superior.

Too bad that Danny as Mad Scientist can't combine Carsen Edwards' ice-water-in-his-veins scoring & Free Safety-sized toughness with Tremont Waters' vision, ball-handling & play-making abilities. As it is, we instead have two short, half-complete players.

Daaammmmnnnnnn.......that’s some powerful 20/20 hindsight

12 others missed that, too

Is it me or is Carsen Edwards bow-legged AF

"Tinseltown" is an attractive location to some.. it is that shiny beads thing. Maybe they will get a bit part in a movie or commercial.. less about basketball and more about promoting their "brand"..
More like.....
A Boston "10" is an LA "4"

In retrospect, I think the tipping point was Irving’s dismay at the level of success the Cs had in last years playoffs without him

Kyrie was so dismayed he verbally committed to resigning with Boston just a couple of months after his peak "dismay"

people can try to blame Hayward’s existence but that’s crap

Set aside player psycho-analysis for a second and look at the Celtics situation objectively.

This team has a $33+ million black hole on its roster for each of the next two years.
What superstar would look at Boston as a destination to win now knowing the team is financially handicapped by $67 million over the next two years?
With 29 other teams all scrambling for superstars, the truly special players will not be settling on teams with roster constraints.

The personality clashes could have been easily eliminated this year if Kyrie chose to stay allowing Ainge to get down to business trading his collection of young assets/rabble-rousers to secure that definitive piece he has so desired for a decade.
But the problem would still remain, Haywards's contract/play cripples the team's ability to fill out the roster with quality.
Imagine scrimmaging and playing games with a guy who can't jump, has no speed, and most importantly can't shoot....and knowing your future would be impacted by the performance and salary of this guy. Hayward's performance directly impacts the team and the cap space he consumes handcuffs the team from being able to fix the obvious.

If you disagree, then you also must believe John Wall's contract doesn't cripple Washington's ability to bring in star FAs committed to winning titles.
Star that sucks.....meh
Bad contract....meh
Star that sucks with a bad contract.....irrelevant

Pretend all you want...... Hayward is an anchor until he proves he's back in elite form.
-------------------
It is the offseason and player psycho-analysis is about all we have left to dwell on......until.......Trader Danny dazzles us with a "C" list star that current elite teams have all passed on.

Sadly, we'll likely have a new narrative to focus on soon.
Trader Danny will sign one of these "C" list centers to a massive long term contract.
Prepare yourself

Like you knew he was going to snap his ankle in his first 5 min......what a load of crap

Not hindsight.

“Antetokounmpo's physical profile and ball skills put his potential off the charts. But it's still just potential. He'll need several years of top Euro-level competition to get him ready for the rigors of the NBA. Based on his potential he'll likely be selected by the 20th pick in the first round.”

Like you knew he was going to grow another 3” as a pro.....you crack me up

I wonder if Ainge signing Kemba Walker would be enough to make Al change his mind.
