Celtics 2019 / 2020

Answer me this: What exactly has Ainge done wrong?
2011: Beanpole "Power" Forward JuWrong Johnson instead of Jimmy Butler, from Doc Rivers' alma mater;

2012: Wasted a future lesser-protected 1st-rounder on Flab Mello;

2013: Traded up...not for Giannis A....but for Kelly Olynyk;

2014: James Young instead of Gary Harris;

2015: Scary Terry instead of Bobby Portis; Jordan Mickey instead of Willie Hernangomez or Richaun Holmes; and Marcus Thornton instead of Norman Powell;

2016: Jaylen No-Handle Brown instead of Jamal Murray; YabaDabaDoo instead of Practically Anybody Else; and Abdel Nader instead of Alex Poythress or Dorian Finney Smith;

2017: Semi Talent instead of Jordan Bell, Thomas Bryant or even draft-n-stash Isaiah Hartenstein...

Curious if you had the opportunity to watch Manute Bol play back in the day.....an era when the NBA placed value in freakish size because the game was played inside. Papa Bol was a freak and awful.
Today’s NBA centers will run laps around the latest version, pull him out to the arc, then sprint by him at will. The league now has no room for unathletic freaks. Especially brittle ones.

PS. Back in the day, had the opportunity to stand next to Manute at a preseason game at the Worcester Centrum. The freak show was in town and I was a sucker and bought a ticket. That is the only value this bean poll will bring. A stiff breeze would blow over his papa and I expect the same with junior. The Bols are like gangly teenagers after a huge growth spurt with no ability to control their bodies.

PSS. Besides, the Celts got their own freak.... Taco 7’ 6” Fall who thrives 2 feet from the basket against zones despite having a 4” vertical leap. Can’t wait for summer league.
Taco and Time Lord.... almost worth a trip to Vegas in July.

Yep, I remember the Sixers blowing the #3 pick on Bol back in the day. I was under no illusion that Bol Bol would have been a starter at center. I was thinking Thon Maker type of impact. In the 2018 playoffs, Maker (along with Antetokoumpo too of course) really protected the rim and the Celts had to win the series shooting jump shots...which they did thanks to Rozier.

I am happy with Tacko Fall. I think he will help in the paint coming off the bench when we put him out with a 2nd unit PG that is weak on D.

As for Robert Williams...I hear he's been hitting the weight room/court hard this off-season......I think he's our starting center now...unless the Greek Bear loses some weight....

Don’t forget he used to miss one out of every ten free throws too

any fan from any team in the nba can make the same kind of list. all gms hit and miss. for some reason you are unable to grasp that.

You'r choosing players based on hind sight. All the other NBA teams are that did not draft those players are also guilty.
Thus, instead of drafting Mello, should have waited and taken Draymond Green at 35. 2013, the first pick was Anthony Bennet. Giannis was not coveted.
2014, Gary Harris doesn't excite me. Better than Young, yes.
2015, Portis was drafted 6 players behind Rozier and the others are 2nd rounders.
Ainge is a great judge of talent. It's a crapshoot unless the team is drafting early.

Did I mention Draymond Green? What I'm implying is that Danny should not have converted that pick during that particular draft.

Neither was Kelly Olynyk, so what's the point?

2014, Gary Harris doesn't excite me. Better than Young, yes.
And he was a better SG prospect than Young on the day of the draft too.

And...?

If you say so, I guess.

Report: C's to sign 7-foot-7 center Tacko Fall

Wow. Reminds me of the Walrus goalie. Hopefully he does not get sleepy ;)

I think that I'd rather have Taco as a UDFA than Bust Bust at #33.

(I myself would've taken Bruno Fernando at #33, but that's another post for another time...)

I agree. I was following the Celtics forum during the draft. They wanted Bol Bol at 14. The kid is frail looking and a physique that does not look like it can hold any muscle.

I enjoy following the drafts but when a player plummets down the draft from all the teams picking then there is always a mutual reason. Their insight is 1000 times ours or the draftnik's. They spend bucko bucks analyzing each player. When a player is picked within a couple of picks of another you can argue the point of one being a better fit than the other. But when a player nose dives then beware

Yep, if Minute rice Bol couldn't hold any muscle at his height, then I don't believe that his kid will have much more success attempting to do so either.

Anybody noticed they're about to sign Kemba Walker? 90 percent of Kyrie with 1 percent of the headache.

great pick up. will fit in very well imo

Nets are getting Durant and possibly Irving. This would be an ideal situation for him. Durant can be “the guy” and he can be the second fiddle. This would top off a master class of a rebuild for the Nets and put them directly in the position for a championship.

durants health is a big question mark. he may never be the same player again.

If he is, the Nets will own the East. I think it might take about a year or so to be realized, but they’ll be strong for a little while. Possibly playing the 76ers in the ECF this season (assuming Leonard moves on).

he's out for a full year for sure. Then it will take another full year to try to get back to where he was before the injury. i don't think they are winning anything anytime soon if ever. when i think of durant. i think OKC and all the talent around him, and they didn't with anything. i think KD and kyrie are going to turn that team into their own personal country club.

Theis 2 yrs $10M? Im not sure he is any good to be honest. Willie Cauley-Stein just signed somewhere for like $1.7M...and has a shot at starting. Does anyone else see anything thing in Theis that makes it a good deal?

Before he was hurt, he was a useful player. Supposedly he's healthy again. At the very least, he's the only big we have who can shoot threes, close to 39 percent last year.

is anybody watching summer league?
