Brady & Gordon working out together

I still don't get it. I wish Gordon well but don't see him as a great savior. Statistics might indicate he was an important piece of the offense however I recall myself and others complaining that Brady was forcing the ball to him. When he was set down is when the team committed to the run. That's the team I want to see this year.

Agree completely. They need to continue to punish teams with the run game, it keeps the defense off the field and fresher late in games, and it wears down opposing defenses.

I've posted the data in another thread, so I'm not going to go through all that again. However, statistically, if he plays in a season, he's apt to complete the season.
This is very misleading and weak logic because you have to conveniently ignore the seasons he was suspended for all 16 and also you're finding a way to turn it into a positive that he "completed the season" during years where he missed the first 10+ games (think the Patriots would be happy with that?). There have been 7 NFL seasons since Gordon was drafted and the facts are these:

Only once in 7 years did he play a full season
Only twice in 7 years did he play in September and still finish the season
Only 3 times in 7 years did he play more than 5 games
And his "finish the season" stat in New England is 0-for-1

The above is just not the recipe of a guy you can count on.

I don't think anyone is suggesting otherwise.

The run game compliments the passing game and the passing game compliments the run game.

Keep in mind Josh is pretty damn good at run blocking. IIRC a number of Sony's 25+ yd runs were because of WR down-the-field blocking.

Some comp% catch % #s here.

Compared to some of the top WRs in 2017, 25% does seem not that great

Thanks RW. Interesting stuff though it has to be viewed in a narrow framework.

It seems like even with a QB (Rothlessburger) known for his deep ball, a great OL a LONG history of working with his WR and a WR (AB) who might be in the top 5 of WR's you'd want to be doing a go route, his success rate was only 3 percentage point higher than what Brady had with a guy who showed up w/o ANY history or even a TC together (26% vs 29%).

Maybe its time we start viewing this as a positive stat. ;)

I just hope that Gordon, the team and people who care about Gordon help him do what's right for him.

I’m fine with Gordon’s run blocking when he is available, but overall I liked their offense much more when he was out of it, If he can come in and contribute great, but it shouldn’t change the overall approach unless it’s a specific match up.

When Brady was railroaded by Goodell on the Ideal Gas Law BS, he could not practice with the team.. at the same time Gordon had been suspended in Cleveland for substance issues, but could practice with the team.. not sure if it means anything, but it seems that there is some compassion for the issues that Gordon is dealing with..

The"dark passenger" of depression mixed with alcohol abuse is a bytch.. would really like to see a great recovery story here, not only for the Pats but for anyone with these issues as well..

Wish Brady and Gisele would take me out to dinner :(
If TB12 and Gisele took me out I would want to go somewhere casual. Not suggesting Applebee's but relaxing. Have a couple of drinks. Some apps. Just chill.

This clip seems to confirm it. I think the Pats know something that we don't, otherwise Brady would be throwing balls to someone else. That doesn't mean there won't be a suspension of some kind, but he will eventually be on the field.

I'm starting to like the potential of our WR group.

Sorry. This clip does not confirm anything.

As to WHEN Gordon comes back. It seems to me that it's pretty certain that he'll be reinstated so that he can be in TC from day one. As to when he can actually play in a regular season game, I haven't a clue.
What?

So you’re going to eat everything and have some drinks while they have (a) light beer?

Unless it's some weird food id probably eat what they get (hummas, guacamole, etc) but I'd order an IPA.

Let me explain, if that was too hard for you. From what EVERYONE is telling us, Gordon is doing everything the league is asking for in order to get back. So even if the decision is ultimately to suspend him, he will still be eligible to participate fully in TC.

The only question remains would be if the league just decides to kick him out entirely, and given what we've seen so far, that is HIGHLY unlikely. Remember this ISN'T about a performance enhancing issue. This is about the league's already suspect policy concerning MJ.

By any prism, the only one that Gordon has been hurting is himself. So if the league cares ANYTHING about their players, and the best place for Gordon in this stage of his recovery is to be in the very structured environment of a football team, then there is no logical reason NOT to have him back with the team.....and then if necessary suspend him some games in order to satisfy the idiot haters around the league....and save some face.

I doubt Practicing with teammates outside of team practice and the season is forbidden under suspension. During the season it might be different.

Patriots dont "need" Gordon.... Sorta like I don't "need" to raid the fridge at 3 a.m... I still do though and its good.
