2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

Yeah the refs missed the call. No doubt about it. But the bottom line is the top line has been abysmal. Completely invisible. Maybe they are worn out.

The team needs to turn the page quick and get ready for game 6. I have faith they can still do this. But they have got to start performing 5 on 5.

Yeah, one good game out of 5 isn’t cutting it for the first line.

That’s the way seven game series go, up-and-down, back-and-forth. The Bruins just have to take one in St. Louis and bring it back for game seven… Tom Brady will be the flag bearer, Bruins take the cup.
I know someone brought it up, but I’m not as sure as you are that Brady would be there, waving the flag. I’d love to be very wrong. Let’s hope we get to revisit the subject on Sunday night. It’s going to be a hornet’s nest in STL and the Bruins look terrible.

Cassidy didnt pull any punches at the press conference, everything he said was true but will probably be fined, although Berube criticized the refs and didnt get fined.
Bruins can do this, just take sundays game and get it to a game 7.

"Those are the hits they want to get out of the game, correct? That's what I hear a lot about. Clearly, they missed a couple tonight. It's a fast game. I sat here two days ago or whatever it was and said I believe these officials are at this level because they've earned the right to be here. You should be getting the best. But, I mean, the narrative changed after Game 3. There's a complaint or whatever put forth by the opposition. It just seems to have changed everything. The no-call on Acciari … their player is on his way to the box. It's right in front of the official. It's a slew foot. Our guy's gone. The spotter took him out of the game for a possible concussion. I mean, it's blatant. It had a big effect on the game. This has happened. I'm a fan of the game. It's the National Hockey League's getting a black-eye with their officiating in these playoffs, and there's another one that's going to be talked about. I thought it was a great hockey game. That call, probably … there's time, but it really made it difficult for us to get the win tonight. So I'm disappointed. So I guess to answer your original question, it was egregious. But we're moving on. We're getting ready for Game 6." – Bruce Cassidy, Bruins coach, on the officiating in their Game 5 loss.

You might have included something about Cassidy and/or his mother
I hate to say it, but both subjects are fair game in hockey, especially after the team’s recent lackluster performances lately.

At the end of the second they don't call the hold on Perron where he's clearly got Krug by the arm and if not for Kreji thats a goal and then they let the slew foot go which leads to a goal. They don't call the hit to the head on Krug where he goes flying by the net. Yet they called Marchand for poking the goaltender and yet Perron did that three times in blatant fashion before he was called in the prior game.

Clearly there's two sets of rules going on here.

The Bruins clearly outplayed the Blues in the first period but credit STL and Binnington for rebound control. In game 3 the Bruins were putting all those rebounds away. In game 5 if Binnington didn't control the rebound the defensemen were there to either clear the puck or handle the Bruins forwards so they couldn't get a stick on the puck.

The crowd after the B's got behind was awful. I couldn't believe how quiet they were and then they're booing.

Gryzlak has to play in game 6. They dominated TOP when he was in the first game plus and was on the ice. If the refs continue to call this series slanted towards the Blues it might not matter. It will be interesting if Bozak gets a game. On the one hand it to some degree appeases the Bruins and Acciari did have to leave the game. On the other it makes the game winning goal look that much worse.

Love how the officiating in the NFL and NHL is complete garbage. What an embarrassment,

Chara probably should not have played. He is not himself.

The Bruins needs to get away from the hitting game. STL wants them to do just that and take them out of their game.

Bruins face their moment of truth. Time to make the non call a moot point. This team has the capability to be better. But will they?

Hope this has some effect for G6

Originally from the StL area (blues, cards fan) and latched on to the pats in the early 90s and never wavered when the Rams came to town.
Do you pick stocks too? I'm looking for a couple to replace some dogs

:p

The NBA—that’s where the quality reffing is these days.

The Bruins are done. Chara was a good story but did not play many minutes and sitting Backes was a huge mistake. He is our enforcer of sorts and without him we got pushed around. Our D is skilled but they are small as a group. Top line has been shut down and Marchand is auditioning for the Harlem Globetrotters with his fancy skating. Just play hockey. Lost respect for the Blues because they are taking the physical play over the line. They did it against SJ and knocked out two top players in that series. I live outside STL, and now have to listen to these inbred fans and loser media personalities that have absolute hatred for anything Boston sports. The NHL should be ashamed of this product that is on display. Make no mistake, we are done. We are beaten in every sense and our guys know it. They dont have the fortitude to rally and come back. When was the last time a Bruins team was bullied like this? It's tough to watch.

Here's how the St Louis Dispatch "journalist" Vladimir Putin described the play:

"Bozak came at Boston’s Noel Acciari from behind. Bozak stuck out his stick and appeared to touch the puck, Acciari fell backward and the crowd at TD Garden, not to mention everyone on the Boston bench, thought it should have been a tripping penalty."

What a trip! Blues on the brink of winning franchise's first Stanley Cup

Now that's some wordsmithing acrobatics there.

Yeah, who knows. He’s seemed very supportive, a couple of Pats have done it, and Orr has done it now. Feels like it’ll happen.

Of course, like you say, tall order just getting there right now. And if they do, the building going crazy when the game starts has to translate to goals and a lead to mean anything..and the Bruins haven’t had a lead in a week.

TD Garden will not be crazy. It's a dark cinema. That's just the way the corporates want it.

Concourses painted dark, sound system blaring to keep the humans down and passive. It works. I miss the Old Garden where you could actually see your fellow fans and the crowd was the active participant. Hell, they even booed John Kiley when Delaware North made him play the organ before faceoffs. Even veterans on opposing teams were scared of coming into the old Garden.

Series is over.

My god. Ye have little faith.

Chara played almost 17min. Same as Carlo.

Backes skates with cement shoes.

Series is over.
It would appear that way especially when the Bruins forwards all looked hesitant last night whenever they went after a loose puck. The Blues dominated and dictated the play in the slots in both zones even though the stat line shows the B's had more shots and hits. 90% of their shots were low-quality attempts from inside or just above the faceoff circles and didn't get after the rebounds like they did against Toronto, Columbus and Carolina. These guys need to do a serious gut-check before getting on that plane to St. Louis. I still believe that they are the better team and playing in front of a hostile crowd with their backs against the wall may be just what they need.
