who needs pitching when you are scoring runs like this.! I have not seen a game yet but Chavis is really making an impact at the plate...how's his glove at 2b?

Nothing that really stands out, which is obviously a good thing. I’ve missed watching some of the past several days, but from what I’ve seen, he looks like a huge acquisition. There was a big hole at 2B, so this seems to be great news.

Sale fans 17 (out of 21 outs) and they still find a way to lose. Amazing. I think I’d be tempted to bring in another starter and move someone to a middle reliever role, but it doesn’t appear as though they want to spend any more money.

The good news is that Sale is rounding into form and that historically, he’s used to pitching well and still not seeing the team get a victory, so hopefully it doesn’t affect his current mojo.

i cant believe kimbrel is still available.

I don’t see how it would work with Kimbrell, financially, though. In a perfect world, he’d come back for a reasonable price, and they could sort out the middle/later inning relievers by adding another option to the mix.

They seem to be leaving the starters in too long, which happened both yesterday and today, after both Sale and ERod had pitched gems. They both finished close to 110 pitches, with terrible last innings. That tells me that they recognize the weakness with the middle relievers and are pushing the starting rotation too hard. That’s a shame, because the starters have really looked good lately, even with Eovaldi on the DL.

kimbrell must be getting bad advice from his agent. or he is an idiot. he clearly is not getting what he was looking for. i read it was 6 years lmao. keep dreaming.

Oh my god. Alex Cora did it again by bringing Porcello back for the 8th inning, last night. What the hell is going on with this? Why do they feel like 6-7 inning starts with minimal runs allowed aren’t good enough?

Hate to sound like a broken record, but Cora sitting on his hands with the pitchers is getting old. Tonight, we saw a 5-2 lead blown in the 9th inning on a night where the Yankees finally lost.

No reason to leave Brasier in there after he had already given up a deep HR.

What the actual eff? Please, someone tell me that they’re experiencing this game, tonight.

This Lakins dude needs to find a different career path, and I can’t believe that Cora allowed this to happen. He did a terrible job of managing today.

I was there, with my brother.

The kid (is he related to Dan Plesac?) pitched a gem. But Tito was owning us all night. Getting picked off to end a threat after he almost did before was ugly.

I thought Cora should have kept Workman in there. Can't afford to waste a masterpiece by David, and clutch hits and plays leading up to the eighth. We needed six outs. By the time we got one, the lead was gone.

They’ve got to try and shake that off tonight before heading to NY for an important 4 game series. Last night’s game is the kind that has the potential to haunt them for awhile, if not change the season entirely.

Maybe I’m just being dramatic, but I don’t like the vibes that I was getting in those late innings, especially heading to NY tomorrow.

It seemed painfully obvious they should have postponed to a twinight double-header today. All was well until the eighth.

I hope for a big weekend.

But it's a long season, and maybe we need a new arm or two.

As predicted, the late inning meltdown has led to 3 straight sloppy losses. They’re now 8.5 games behind with two more tough games in NY.

Even if they split tonight/tomorrow, they’ll still be almost 10 back heading into June. That’s not a good sign. This past week has been a disaster.

OK first priority is to determine what needs to be done to help the team.

I think that some relatively minor adjustments, maybe getting some bullpen help, can be enough to get the team going.

We need consistency, and right now we seem tired and a little dejected.

It's only June.

I think they need a quality arm, whether that be a starter (kind of a pipe dream), or more realistically, a reliever. Something. Someone who can throw the damn ball.

Yes, it’s only June—and yet they’re almost 10 games back. That’s something I’m used to seeing here with the Pirates. Luckily, as you said, they’re still a good team and there’s time, but it’s not easy to come back from 10 out, either.

Must hang on to finish the deal tonight.

Bucs only 5 games out today.

They should be scouring the world for a good setup/closer type of guy...there's gotta be one somewhere out there, so we need to get him before someone else does.

So, that would settle down the pitching staff...

hopefully 8.5 in a little while

I just think the 'Stros, Twins and Yankees all suck, and we can steamroll all of 'em if we get our sh*t together and get on a roll.

so, 3 June...are we done? Nothing feels special about this team
