only a two day break. that blows. at least they get another two day break after game 1.

Yeah I was hoping that the series wouldn't begin until Friday, as it by all rights shouldn't.

No McAvoy for game 1 either...John Moore seems day-to-day, and probably no Kevin Miller for this series at all. Grizlick, Clifford & Kamper dressed for the same game is downright scary.

they can do it

they can do it
They did indeed...and Kampfer himself even scored the first goal on a beautiful pass from Johansson, who looks with every passing game more comfortable in his role as 3rd line forward with Coyle & Heinen.

Shouldn't have been so close, of course...Sunday's game is still huge, because the Hurricanes have not lost a game at home this post-season. The Bs will need that 2-game cushion just in case they're swept next week at the Eye.

the blue jackets didn't lose a game at home either until the Bruins beat them there. it just means they are due. home ice means next to nothing anyway.

Hey man I think the 'Canes/Whalers have played in almost as many different home venues as the Pats...

Whalers:

Boston Arena
Boston Garden
The Big E Coliseum
Springfield Civic Center
Hartford Civic Center

Hurricanes:

Greensboro Coliseum
Raleigh Entertainment & Sports Arena
RBC Center
PNC Arena

2003 - Present / Gillette Stadium
2002 / CMGI Field
1990 - 2001 / Foxboro Stadium
1983 - 1989 / Sullivan Stadium
1971 - 1982 / Schaefer Stadium
1970 / Harvard Stadium

1963 - 1968 / Fenway Park
1960 - 1962 / Nickerson Field

I though it was a cheap call...didn't see any intent on Mac's part

Am I just a homer?
Good call, but didn't warrant a suspension I thought. I forget if it was McAvoy who probably got away with a (similar?) penalty earlier in the game, and maybe that was the league's way of evening the score.

Bs have split the first 2 games of both the Toronto & Columbus series. It sure would be nice to leave Boston with a 2-0 lead this time and save themselves a game's worth of punishment, and also give themselves perhaps an extra day or two of rest for what is hopefully a 49-year rematch in the making (though St Lou didn't help themselves last night).

Lot of factors:

How fresh are the Bruins?
How are they playing?

CBJ expended so much energy winning the games they won against us, in the end they ran out of gas at home.

We want to wear teams out in seven games...and we need Tuuka to continue to be solid.

If the Bruins make it through I think SJ is the more entertaining matchup but STL the more winnable one. SJ will be more old school and there will definitely be some fighting majors.

The Bruins better be on their game early tonight and just survive the initial frenzy the Canes are going to provide. If they can make it out of the first period tied I like their chances.

Then I hope the western series just goes one more game than this one. They're a day behind which means 3 extra days rest which should be more than enough but not too much where they come out flat in game one.

Who has home field during finals? Assuming Bs win.

Bruins look good. I am nervous so I watch from under the sofa.

Too bad about Wagner. He, Kuraly & Nordstom were playing at a near-Merlot level.

Acciari will assume Wagner's role, but Wagner is a clearly superior player so this loss will absolutely hurt...one more reason to end this series as soon as possible.
