sorry, I just can't take the rest of your argument seriously, even though it may have some sense, because the bold part is such horse-hooie. Rodney was not just an enforcer, he was smart and a coach on the field. To argue he couldn't adapt to the pay-me-ton/Gotohell(-chicks dig the long ball) rule changes is just absurd. Especially with BB as his coach.

Again, you are looking at things through rose-tinted glasses. The reality is that none of the early 2000 teams would have a realistic chance against their 2010 counter parts. The NFL in which players like Harrison can be impact players doesn't exist anymore.

And the same is true for safeties. DMac is at least as smart and a coach on the field as Rodney was. In addition he can also play many more positions at a higher level that Rodney would be able to. Most of the things that made Rodney special are less relevant or straight not allowed anymore.

I don't get why everyone gets so defensive about the players on the teams that started the dynasty. They were great for their era but time has moved on and the game has become more complicated, more athletic and more strictly called.

All three of them deserve to get in the Patriots Hall of Fame. I agree with those who’ve stated the Patriots should induct more than one in a given year when appropriate. Not enough to water down the status of getting into the Hall, but enough so that those who deserve to be in can get inducted in a more timely manner.

Rodney Harrison was the most emotional, inspired and playmaking player on our defense during the first phase of the dynasty. His "hit people in the mouth" mantra made watching the Pats on D just awesome. He got 2 picks in the first Philly Super Bowl including a game clincher. Awesome.

McCourty is nothing special?? Strange comment about a very good player who has only missed 5 games in a 9 year career, and has similar leadership qualities comparable to Harrison. He is not as vocal as Harrison, but nonetheless a smart player, a leader and role model.

That's the game changer. Harrison probably still would be a great player if he was playing today, but he'd be a player like much more like McCourty than how Harrison was.

I'd place him after Brady, Gronk and Hannah. IMO Gronk is the greatest TE ever, and Hannah is the greatest interior OL ever (Munoz is generally considered the greatest tackle). You can only put Moss in that company if you call him the greatest WR ever. You can make that claim but I still rate Rice higher.
