Yes, Watson was a 1st rounder who played one game.

I could have said 1st rounder, but I think that it IS reasonable to to expect a 1st rounder to contribute after taking the first year in rehab.

Also, one of the TEs. Watson, maybe? He was a first rounder, IIRC. Of course, he didn’t spend the entire season on IR, since he played in a game.

I agree. If Wynn looks great in camp than Cajuste gets the Foxboro flu. We can not predict what will happen.

Hill blew an ACL (yes in Jupiter FL :)) and then we had Patterson at RB last year. And then people are shocked that we drafted Harris. At this time in the year it is always good to have 1 more than you need.

I find that unlikely. Cajuste wasn't a 6th round scrub. He was drafted to provide quality depth, at least.

He had quad surgery at the end of March and will be out 3 months, April, May and June. Then he has to build up his strength, learn the Pats playbook, etc., so I am guessing he will behind the others. Maybe IR to return or off the game day roster for awhile.

True. I use it as a metaphor to mean the Patriots can manage the roster in many ways.
But they aren’t putting a guy on IR who isn’t injured which is what Foxboro Flu implies so you create misperceptions when you use that phrase.

There is no such thing as the Foxboro flu.

NO PLAYER has ever been drafted in the 2nd or later, spent the season on IR, and then been a contributor to the patriots, IR.

The closest to an exception is Flowers. However, he was active in the first game and didn't go on IR until December, so he practiced with he team for half the season.

This doesn't bode well for the 2018 draft class that so many of us are counting on to make 2019 contributions.

Well Wynn was a 1st round pick and the only first round pick to spend his rookie year on IR was Watson.
Dawson didn’t spend the season on IR and got a good amount of practice time.
The others fit that description.

A day 3 pick has a rough time making a roster to begin with and a year without football is usually the death knell.
I wouldn’t put Wynn in that category.

I don't share the same concern. I don't think anyone is counting on contributions from later round 2018 draft picks who were put on IR for the full 2018 season. That was the definition.

So I don't think anyone is counting on Berrios, Sam and Izzo to do anything.

Pats might still be interested in Hansen they used a roster spot on in September..
at least for TC

Thought this may be of use to some:

I thought Ryker might be among firsts to go . hopefully good sign for Veldheer..
If Thurman is a tryout - i have 2 roster spots open for NE..

EDIT: Cox is saying Thurman is signed - so 1 spot open
