OT Donald Penn is someone I could see them kicking the tires on.

Bailey or Shelton at DT are also possible additions.

After my initial reactions to the draft-we are trading up in the second for a DB of course and we do need another RB and why not trade up in the 5th for a punter-I am feeling much better about the teams depth. Blocking in the run and passing game with the loss of our two tight ends and starting LT remains the biggest obvious weakness in my eyes.

I usually count 25 including special teamers, in this case Bolden and Slater. That leaves 6 spots for TE and WR. Sometimes we have carried only 8 OL's (not my choice). I'm fine with 2 TE's and 4 WR's. We would also have 3 receivers on the PS. Also, I presume that you included Develin in your RB/FB count of 5.

9 OL + 5 RB + 3 QB They usually carry 23/24 O players ... 6/7 spots for WR and TE

Usually i do ST (S/K/P) + only ST players such as Ebner, Slater, King, Crossen, Bolden, Brooks .. and them fill the rest of the roster, if a leave a very good player behind i cut one of them. But IMO at least 4 will make the team.

I wonder if someone like Veldheer takes a look at Trent Brown's haul and would love to come to the Pats for a year.

Watch Buffalo, too, for some OL vet help - they signed 6 OL FAs, then drafted Cody Ford. Someone's falling off that train - might be Waddle.

I'm sorry to see Timmy Jernigan reup with the Eagles. He would have added some up the middle pass pressure and he only signed what amounts to $1.25mm and another $750000 in incentives. That $2MM maximum. That was a big cut from his last year's take. Good signing for the Eagles.

We need to sign more guys with a first name that looks like it was written by a cat walking across a keyboard, imo.

If you ask me thinking about how it all fits together on the 53 is just too early right now. Right now this is about getting a deep and solid roster into camp and see who performs well there and comes out if healthy.

And while your math makes sense to me things can happen fast where you go from 2 swing tackles to none.

I agree. If Wynn looks great in camp than Cajuste gets the Foxboro flu. We can not predict what will happen.

Hill blew an ACL (yes in Jupiter FL :)) and then we had Patterson at RB last year. And then people are shocked that we drafted Harris. At this time in the year it is always good to have 1 more than you need.

He was really, really good his first year. Don't know about the other 2.

Not as good. 12 million dollar option plus mariota rookie deal is up. Titans can’t just throw money at players like they’ve done recently.

Didn’t know you could tell the difference. Who’s imo, your cat?

at least
I expect 6 out of those that you mentioned to amaze the 53. As of now, I have Crossen as the odd man out. I have Brooks beating out Obi for a spot (I know that you didn't list Obi).

There is no such thing as the Foxboro flu.

NO PLAYER has ever been drafted in the 2nd or later, spent the season on IR, and then been a contributor to the patriots, IR.

The closest to an exception is Flowers. However, he was active in the first game and didn't go on IR until December, so he practiced with he team for half the season.

Also, one of the TEs. Watson, maybe? He was a first rounder, IIRC. Of course, he didn’t spend the entire season on IR, since he played in a game.
