FA part 2

May 7th will be the important date, as any free agents won't count against the comp picks. Apart from Suh not 100% sure who is still available. Be interesting to see what happens over the next month or so.

I wouldn't expect many NE moves. Roster is pretty full and not much caproom anyway. The one thing I hope we get is another DT, preferably Shelton

Always expect the unexpected with BB...

There will be plenty of moves like every year. Plenty of cap for 2nd part of FA.

I agree about the position. I suspect that is in part why they did not draft a DT once they missed out on the top guys. I personally would prefer Allen Bailey to Shelton and would not at all be surprised if they had verbally agreed on a contract prior to the draft with him, with the understanding that the deal cannot be consummated until after the seventh.

Cannot build upon last years running success without adequate tackle depth ...
He seems more than adequate as a backup/sometimes starter.

Wynn replaces Brown,
Cannon is healthy and plays RT,
A draftee or Croston replaces Waddle as backup swing tackle.

Karras and a draftee play backup interior O-line (or Ferentz, but that seems unlikely)

So we don't really have a gaping hole unless Wynn isn't ready or Cannon isn't reliably healthy. I suppose that both of these are things to worry most about though.

And yet, none of them can fill the position in question: OT of Germanic origins.

Commentary I'm reading is he is distinctly average in the run blocking dept.
Yeah, kind of disappointing. I'd still be thrilled to have him if his pass protection is on point, though.

I know its Dutch . Didn't say German, dear Brit .
When i went to school Dutch was/were still Germanic..

Nice (n)omen though..
Hmm ... not trying to start a fight, but there are a few million Dutch people who don't like the label (even though, of course, Pennsylvania "Dutch" ...)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Dutch, German, English, Danish, etc all trace their language to the germanic tribes of Roman times? So it is indeed a Germanic language? I don't think German and Germanic mean the same thing.

What do dutch people call Germanic people? I'm guessing it's not Duits.

One of the most experienced OT on the market is visiting Foxb. If healthy could be a solid addition at the start of second part of FA

a fine choice for swing tackle (a replacement for Waddle)

If he's just average in both run and pass blocking, and inexpensive and durable, he's a fantastic get for swing tackle.
That would mean that half of the OT's in the League are less capable than he is.
You can win a lot of titles with backup players that are better than half the League.

Wynn-Thuney-Andrews-Mason-Cannon
Cajuste-Froholdt-Karras-Veldheer

pretty damn solid.

9 OL + 5 RB + 3 QB They usually carry 23/24 O players ... 6/7 spots for WR and TE

Point 2. What is the point of having a ST if you gonna have 2? I understand that Wynn and Cajuste are rookies but it is what it is. On the other hand they can carry 2 TE one like Allen(Izzo) and the other with more upside of catching balls (ASJ) and 5 WR and the T will be a better player than our TE3

If you ask me thinking about how it all fits together on the 53 is just too early right now. Right now this is about getting a deep and solid roster into camp and see who performs well there and comes out if healthy.

And while your math makes sense to me things can happen fast where you go from 2 swing tackles to none.
