It would be good to have someone that we can count on for solid reps in 2019. I understand that the draft is where we get future stars. However, sometimes, for one position, we NEED current year production.

I agree and can absolutely see Smith being the pick. I just hope he’s our 2nd or 3rd pick rather than the first. Would much rather have him after snagging an AJ Brown or Chris Lindstrom/Risner/McGary or one of the DTs rather than sacrificing them to get Smith.

Ok I will play Jacob Hollister doesn't have the body to play with the NFL Big boys. He's built like a move TE the sad thing is he cannot get out of his own way. Don't ask about his Blocking it's next to nonexistent I will be surprised if his ship hasn't sailed. Because Hollister is so limited he limits what you can do on O and the D knows what's coming when he's in there camp fodder.

Wont make it past camp unless injuries hit and potential picks bust hard. At this point even Izzo is a more interesting player at TE than Hollister. He might be at the bottom of he depth chart now.

I think Izzo and Stephen Anderson are both very interesting players who have a shot at making the roster. For what it's worth, I don't peg any of their chances to be playing a major role in Week 1 to be worse than Seferian-Jenkins, who is also a player I like.

Absent one of the top three guys in the draft, which I find relatively unlikely unless they trade up or back from 32, it seems to be more about throwing **** at the wall and seeing what sticks at tight end. Uncharted territory since the heady days of Cleeland and Fauria.

I think he's totally fine as a second rounder if you want A Quarterback In This Draft, but I also don't expect them to take him. I think he's better than Drew Lock. As a project, I prefer Tyree Jackson's obscene physical talent. Rypien is probably the best system fit but he's nothing special and Grier at least has personality. Give me a wide receiver or lineman or whatever.

That this is a (possibly historically) bad draft for QBs seems to have been characteristically forgotten in the run-up, but make no mistake: these quarterbacks suck. Even Murray is full of holes and would be buried on the depth chart of QB prospects over the past five years. I'd be surprised if the Patriots draft a QB at all, though Jackson is a good project, Rypien is a good system fit, and Grier is fine in the middle rounds. And if those guys were in last year's draft they'd all probably fall to the 6th round and I wouldn't rule out any of them doing exactly that. They're better than Etling but that's not saying much. Jones in particular seems like a candidate for a Matt Barkley "maybe he's a first... or maybe he's a fifth" fall.

There should end up being a decent number of players in competition. We will know more very soon, and a trade is possible if not likely.

I know it's hard to get excited By Jones however if we do take him I will drink the koolaid.

Think him & Anderson were two of the first prospects I talked about in my thread.

Yea Jackson is a freak. 6'7/250. Cannon & runs a 4.6 flat? I actually think if you clean up his lower half mechanics he could really really good. Delivery, not sure how much that will change. At least not quickly. But you clean up his weight transfer, step/drive & base & he might be good one.

Come on. There has been one Tom Brady in the history of the NFL. The balance of probabilities would suggest Danny Etling never takes a snap in anger; the majority of late round QBs never play a regular season game and even among the ones who do, John Navarres and Keith Nulls are more the norm than Marc Bulgers or Tyrod Taylors, let alone Tom Brady. No one has any evidence that Etling isn't Brady but we also don't have any evidence that Damoun Patterson isn't the next Jerry Rice and that Christian Sam isn't secretly Lawrence Taylor.

As I said in my post.. "I do not have any idea if Ettling has a future in the NFL, but we will know more come training camp."

The point being is that BB and his staff have a better idea as to what the Pats have , but fans rely on speculation and the belief that he is not an NFL QB.. stay tuned.

If the Giants pass on Haskins twice then you have to have an answer why. I’ve heard the chatter here in NY, do not know if it’s real. I’m way ok with your 3rd or 4th round selections.
