Sub 60% passer, erratic footwork and mechanics, thinks his arm is better than it is, etc. I'm using hyperbole of course; if he were there at 56 then it would be tempting to take him and see what you can do with him after a few years. He's got some talent, clearly, and I actually like his interviews and personality a lot.

I'm just all in for 2019 and 2020 as probably the last two years (realistically) of Brady's championship window. I'd rather put off the QB question as long as possible, or at least pull the trigger on someone I'm really confident in if we're going to draft a guy this year.

The Patriots have never been concerned with that particular issue. Their goal is to make the playoffs every year, not specifically with Brady.

If he’s there at 32 and they were offered say, a 2020 first or similar such as two 2’s, and instead pick the dude, I will go absolutely Captain Stone apeshit. It won’t happen as Charlie Casserole sux as bad as his toupee.

We need to find a balance in the draft between value, need and helping this team win in 2019 (and maybe 2020).

QB is a complete waste of a pick to me. OL in the 1st round as well to me.

C'mon, bro, you're one of the smarter posters I've seen over the years. Of course that's their stated intent. But you don't think at all that they're approaching the next 2 - 3 years with a little different plan, regardless of what they say they're doing? They've never been so close to the end of an all time great HoF career at the most important position before. I'm not suggesting sabotaging the future or going completely off script; I'm saying that we're currently a championship team that requires a few roles to be restocked, and investing a lot of capital into a far off future (most likely 3 seasons away, minimum) doesn't seem prudent.

I think Isabella could have a tremendous career with us. Super fast and twichy, runs a lot of the route tree. Can take the top off the defense and also work short and intermediate routes.

But he is a body catcher, and that is not going to work in the nfl. If he could catch the ball in his hands like renfrow, I would take him at 32.

In my mock draft last week I traded up for Hockenson. I just have a hard time believing he will still be there in the late teens though. In this one, we trade up for his more athletic teammate.

21 ( trade 32 and 73 for 21 with Seattle) Noah Fant, TE. Trade ahead of Oakland and take the most athletic TE in the draft. Give solid effort as a blocker with some room to grow.

56 Kaleb McGary, OT. Pats desperately need a swing OT. McGarry fits the bill.

64 Riley Ridley, WR. Apart from speed, Ridley seems to fit everything the Pats need from a receiver. Best route runner in the draft with great hands and strength to get off the press. He isn't sudden but his route running ability makes up for it.

97 (trade with Carolina for 154 and a future 3rd)

101 Mercole Hardman, WR: We double dip at Georgia for the second year in a row. Hardman can start as punt and kick returner and learn the slot craft.

134 Kingsley Keke, DE. Offers another versatile piece up front with the ability to play inside and out.

154 Malik Gant, S. Add a versatile strong safety to back up Chung and start in special teams. One of the best tacklers in the draft and can possibly make King/Ebner expendable.

205 Mitch Hyatt, OT. Really athletic tackle that will move to guard in the NFL. Provides some competition and depth.

224. (trade 239 and 243 for 224 with Detroit) Sutton Smith, DE. Start him on special teams for a year and hope he can develop into an off the ball LB.

235, Nick Easley, WR. I've got bored by this stage so traded 246 and 252 with Oakland for 235. Easley can compete with Berrios etc for a slot role or land on the practice squad.

I’d have liked a bit more than that on defense, but I could live with that mock. It’s certainly the offense that needs fixing.

However, from all the visits and the existing gaps on the roster I've really started to get the impression that all things being equal Bill is going to focus on TE, WR and OT/G early. Personally, I wouldn't mind a Lawrence or Tillery at 32. But a rotational DT or DE seems more of a mid round priority.

I’m starting to think that DT isn’t a priority. There are still some decent names on the FA market that could be signed after the draft. DE and safety are where I hope they focus. The De could be a hybrid player though like your Keke pick.

Edoga is, talent wise, one of the better OTs after that first group . His issue is character. Abrams is worthy of consideration at 32 although I like some other safeties more.
