Anybody else hate the rule change to review pass interference?

For example, the Rams would have gotten the call on Cooks & ball at the one in the Super Bowl. I see a lot of headscratchers coming.

I don’t love instant replay in general, because it seems to make the game less exciting....there’s a pause in your emotions watching...eh, that’ll be overturned...but I think it works for turnovers and some of these clearer things. Interference? It’s gonna be a cluster@#!%

Key issue here for me is who will really make the call. My concern is that this is another area where the Park Avenue clowns will insinuate themselves into a position to directly impact the outcome of games. I don’t trust them with the amount of power they already have. Concentrating more power there is a recipe for the mother of all “Black Sox” situations.

This will be horribly inconsistent. Slo-mo is going to make things that would never be called get called - sometimes.

I don't like it as it seems to be kneejerk just from the Rams, Saints game. Not a reason to change a rule IMO.

My rational fear is the NYJFL would have tried to use this rule to let the Lambs back in the game.

Hate it. The offense already has so many advantages and now I’m wondering if a ticky tack call shows up on replay are they going to enforce it? To me it has to be blatant, anything else is just stupid.

Are illegal picks going to be reviewable? Illegal blocks by the receivers? The shift just keeps going to offense.

If the nfc championship interference happened in the first quarter I don't think there would be any change. From the saints perspective the playoff Gods hasn't smile on them for a while. Seahawks, 49ers,Vikings, Rams playoff games are some notable 4th quarter meltdowns, I feel bad for them.

The thing that is going to be interesting is to see the percentage increase of late game deep attempts when an opponent is trailing, trying to draw the flag and how successful they are at it. I think it's going to be a mess and could be game-changing in a few games next year.

The other issue is that pass interference is a call that has to be interpreted that way by the officials, with not necessarily a clear-cut definition there on each one (aside from what happened in the NFC Championship game - which was blatant and lead to this change to begin with). It'll be curious to see how it turns out, for sure.

I'm fine with the rule. The decision was data driven. When reviewing all the miscalls and their effects, it was very clear that PI calls and those uncalled had the biggest effect on games. In other words, mistakes by officials were very costly, and this happened a lot.

As far as consistency, that problem already exists. In any case, again this was data driven. A group form the committee was asked to make decisions. There was a lot of consistency. As with all new rules, there will be a training issue.

And yes, this new rule will affect plays at the end of a game. As now, players will try to draw a foul. And now, if they don't get it, the coach can appeal. The number of challenges remained the same, a good decision.
