Jerod Mayo is back...

Yeah .... is he coaching linebackers or is he a linebackers coach? I would think BB would'nt give him the title and pressure at 1st. Interesting Curran worded it this way ...

OK. If BB thinks hes ready to be a position coach....so be it.

Could be BBs the best draft LB during his tenure as Pat's GM.

Hightower is good too.

That's great to hear. Mayo is both a sharp football mind and a terrific role model.

Really like this move, as we are continuing segments of the Pats Dynasty.. have always like Jerod both on and off the field.

The only issue would the impact on his family, he was working for some health care something or other, now he will be working many hours and spending a lot of time away from them, but he would not accept the position if he did not know that...

One reporter suggested Mayo as a Pats hall of famer, what do you guys think? Think a less successful franchise he'd make it. But, think the field is too crowded. Could probably come up with 10-13+ guys that would make it over him.

Patriots' Hall of Fame?

Or NFL Hall of Fame?

The latter, no way. The former I think I'd put him somewhere a little below Tedy Bruschi and a little higher than Ted Johnson.

Certainly not on the level of Nelson, Tippett, or Bruschi. He reminds me of Vincent Brown in that he's a guy who might have gotten there for sure but had his career cut short by injuries.

Edit: I just removed a lot of complaining because I didn't see Bruschi in the Patriots' hall of fame but I see him there and now I'm not as mad.

I'd put Mayo at the level of Light who is in there so yeah, I think he could make it.

Love the fact that Mayo is going to be the Pats LB coach. I think that he'll work wonders with Bentley and Sam. Maybe even help Roberts improve as well.

Hah for a second was like wtf Bruschi def in there. James White about to pull your video down.

Trust in BB. Great choice.

Man, I couldn't be happier about this.

So which team is going to hire him as the HC for 2020? I say the Lions lol.

Best of luck to him

I waited for this news from the moment he said goodbye. It took a bit longer than i thought but so much the sweeter.

Great psychology/timing by BB to ease the transition from Flores to Schiano w a good cop bad cop routine..

And Pats offseason certainly could use a news like this Makes Flores et al less missed..

The next great “51“ (Bentley) couldn't ask for more..

Mayo was way better than ted Johnson And was Patriot hof quality player but imo he didn’t play long enough to make it in. Not his fault but the bar is high.
He also had no rings.
Light is well ahead of him because of longevity and rings. IMO

Slight quibble - he does have a ring, he was on the 2014 team. He didn’t make it through the season though; I think he got IR’d after the Bear game? I’d need to look it up.

Edit - I looked it up, it was after the week 6 game in Buffalo. The Bears game was 2 weeks after.

Yeah I knew that but don’t consider that his ring.

Mayo won a SB in 2014. Unless you don't want to count that one because he got injured during the season.

If that's your stance cool but either way he got a ring out of it. Reportedly he kept showing up after landing on IR and helping out with coaching and video study for the rest of the season.

EDIT: I see someone else pointed it out already. Just ignore it then.

That's great news. Very knowledgeable of the system, and a young guy to boot. I like what Reiss tweeted:
I was listening to him the other night talking about how much he loved football and how much it had taught him and done for him. Great move.
