If they're still on the board at 32, what do you do?

What about Ray Lewis? I heard he killed a guy.
(I did vote, so I am contributing something positive to the discussion......)
I think he's too old to draft but if we can sign him as an UFA to a minimum contract...Maybe put a clause in the contract voiding the salary if he kills anyone during the season...

What if Daniel Jones falls to 32?
Seriously, I don't think that this could happen. However, if the patriots really wanted him and he were close, we would move up.

A couple of thoughts -

1. I am really intrigued with the idea of getting Rosen. He is a QB talent that we won't see where we draft. I'd first try and see if I could get him for a 2nd and another pick rather than the first, but I might still pull the trigger. My ONLY trepidation is timing. If we assume Brady's got another 2 years left in him here, then that would leave us with only 2 years of control from his rookie contract. Is that enough? Maybe spending one of our first 6 picks on any QB THIS year is still too early.

2. I'm surprised to see Linstrom rated so high. He's very intriguing to me personally, despite the fact he plays a position the Pats are currently in no need of, and he'd be a bit of reach. But I might make the pick if I were in charge because I coached his dad in HS. .

BTW- his dad was about 6'5 220lb stringbean who couldn't walk and chew gum, and was about the 3rd best OLman on a team without another lineman over 200. Still he was a try hard kid who was a joy to coach. BUT when he left to play at BU, he grew a couple more inches, gained about 60 lbs over the next 4 years and parlayed that effort into a 3 or 4 year NFL career.

3. I'm loath to pick a TE at that point unless the FO feels he's a Gronk replacement. Fant is enticing but is he really a TE as we define it here. I'm of the feeling the need along the DL is too great to wait 50 more picks and hope one is there.

I love Tillery. I think he's a top-10 talent easy. Stout against the run and has nice pass rush moves. What Malcom Brown should've been. But I do think there's a ton of talent in the 20-40 range this year.

Rosen was my favorite player in last year's draft, with Wynn the second. If the Patriots got him for a 2nd, despite his subpar showing the first year, I'd be ecstatic.

It's a pretty big roll of the dice, but I couldn't say no to Fant. IMO a dynamic, athletic playmaker at TE would be a high-impact upgrade to this roster--whether or not Gronk returns. And a 249-lb. player with that kind of speed and quickness is a matchup nightmare.

This. I really like Lawrence, but just couldn’t say no to Fant.

Am I missing something? Why would we have to wait 50 more picks?

With the signing of Mike Pennel I think drafting DL in the first round is no longer a must. I'd wait and see if we get lucky and some of the top prospects fall for whatever reason (ex. Christian Wilkins) but I think we should look at TE. If either Hockenson or Fant drops to us we should pick them up ASAP.

If not I'd say we go for AJ Brown. Brown is just so fluid on the field and at this point we need sure things at WR rather than boom/bust prospects (ex. Hakeem Butler). For me there is no chance AJ Brown will bust. What are his weaknesses? Vertical speed (which isn't a big issue in our offense) and lack of snaps outside. If he doesn't work out as X-receiver then he can just be our long-term replacement for Edelman.

Trade down could be another option, since our Bears pick is near mid-2nd anyways.

They're nuts if Tillery is there at 32 and they pass. He's the next Richard Seymour.

TJ Hockenson is a more complete TE than Fant.

Hopefully, some team makes an offer that is too good for BB to refuse but if not, then then anyone on the @reamer list is good with me.

Better talent in the top 15-20. Going after DL.
Um, that will be a tough cost to bear considering that the drop off in talent isn't that steep. It will cost you roughly the Pats 1 and both 2nd's just to get to #15. I just don't see the value in this draft or the definitive player to do it from #32 especially considering that the Pats have some needs/wants at several positions.

Assuming they aren't drafting a WR and a QB Days 1 and 2 they don't need as much as you think.
