Wasn't impressed by him Stidham had a great release and touch on the ball.
However the knock is he crumbles under pressure and came from a one read offense.

No the knock on him was that his oline sucked this year and he suffered from a lack of talent around him. What does playing in a one read offense hurt him as a developmental guy? He is not starting for a year, as next year will likely still have Hoyer. And I heard he did well on the board.

Bortles has a base salary of 14m in 2019 (with 6.5m guaranteed), 1m roster bonus and 1m in per game bonus. In 2020 he has 17m in base salary and 1m in per game bonus.

In what universe does anyone think the Patriots would trade for that and have him sit on the bench? If the Jags were willing to pay 14m of his 2019 contract and 16m of his 2020 contract, maybe, if Belichick and McDaniels think they can fix him.....

I listened to two draft podcasts today and on both, they thought Jarrett Stidham was the best QB at the combine. A Stidham pick feels like one of those Patriot picks where everyone says “the Patriots have done it again”.

These numbers mean nothing. As I recall, they clock the balls on random throws during the workout. In other words, you might have a guy throwing with extra touch or going easy, and his speed number suffers.

Tyree Jackson obviously has the strongest arm in the draft, and he's at 54 lol. Daniel Jones' arm also looked very strong. Not elite, in the sense that he can throw off his back foot like Mahomes, but very good, in the sense that if he steps into his throw, he could probably hit at least 65 yards downfield, if not more.

Oof, that footwork looks rough, and that arm looks slow. Not a lot of zip on these throws either. They run a lot of spread stuff, which he doesn't look good in.
A couple blunders...
He calls for the snap as the fly motion is coming across, and they snap it into the WR.
He forces a deep ball with the pass rush approaching, and he gets hit on the throw. He couldn't finish his arm motion, so it's a duck to the FS. This is the kind of play that indicates slow processing speed, regardless of how bad his O-Line may be.

I don't think he's draftable. To play devil's advocate to someone that says 6'6" QBs don't grow on trees: other colleges knew this, and they still looked elsewhere. There's a reason he's playing for Central Connecticut.

Edit: That full game footage is from 2016. He looks a little better in 2018. More confident in the pocket, perhaps throwing a little harder. I think I'd want to see more from a different camera angle from 2018.

Just found longer footage of Daniel Jones at the combine. His arm looked a little weaker on the deep throws. He's putting everything he has into it, and his mechanics break down a little. A little clunky with his mechanics overall, although they're obviously functional.

Found Thorson finally. I think he has some clear strengths/weaknesses, but you have to appreciate that he's a 4 year starter with athleticism and toughness. I definitely like him, but not sure I like him for the Pats. I think he's a better fit on a team that wants to hit the deep zones of the field, as his release, footwork, and timing won't quite be up to snuff. I think he has a shot to be a starter though.

What're we left with for 'best matches'? Ryan Finley or Josh Rosen. I won't say anyone else is a definite starter (or at least worthy of starting... early picks will definitely start for their respective teams). Finley needs to learn with his hips... His mechanics are eerily similar to QBs that have busted, but he's so smart and so accurate that I think he will bring it all together.

I like Thorson alot but don't see him as a fit for our system.
However supposedly we had a scout at all his games so we know all about the kid.
