I could be wrong but hasn't Belichick pulled this before as in Ron Brace when Wilfork was doubtful to resign and Marquise Hill with Seymour. I realize Bennett is an actual player instead of a size-alike, but he's old and they could easily carry him a year or two.

Reading a little about the Bennett/Schiano relationship worries me a little. Hope those two can work together. Not sure if Bennett has matured or Schiano has softened. Maybe BB can be the soft center between two hard cookies.

What player has come here that had past issues and been a disaster and major locker room distraction? None that I can remember. Gordon relapsed but was a good locker room guy. So I am sure Bennett will bring his skill set here and learn and enjoy the Patriot Way. They all do. Hell he may even lure Marty with him. Whatever issues and comments he had in the past will have no reflection on the Patriots. Water under the bridge.

Philly doesn't have a lot of cap space even w Foles off the books and for Roseman to be creative or active in free agency, they needed to clear some cap space, ergo moving Bennett.. I go to see a few Eagles games last year and Bennett didn't play like a guy in his 30s..... I like this.. if we can just keep him out of casinos.....

I know they said they need to free up cap space but if so, why was it this contract?

Even with him they're still something like 22 million below their cap. If they really feel a need to dump a contract I think Agholer makes more sense. 9.4 million on a #2 WR?

To me that makes a lot more sense. So again I am left asking why drop the better player with the better contract and lower salary?
