John Ross on the Block

Absolutely classic if Brady have to play QB with that pathetic receiving lot minus Edelman he might as well hang em up.

Oh, look, football has broken out among the porn. An actual intelligent and informative football post! Yay! Hail, Hydra!

I'd love to take a look at Ross. He can burn, but can he run routes? Anyone know his problem in Cincinnati (other than the Bengals)?
Very high amount of uncatchable balls.

I don't think it will be that cheap.
I'm thinking a third or fourth

Gordon was pretty cheap and they want to unload Ross. Do you think there will be a lot of competition?

Agree...interesting to know what the combination between bad passes and wrong route running is.

I wish Dorsett made more plays like the one he did in the AFC-CG but those plays are just too few and far in between. I hope they move on from him and I don't think his Agents phone is going to ring a lot in FA.

Did you say the same thing with Edelman or Troy Brown or Amendola?

How much production do you expect from a WR3/4 ?

Dorsett looks like a possible reliable WR2/3 this season. He has speed, great hands and is increasingly gaining Brady's trust. This could be his year.

By the way, he does not only run comeback or 9 routes.

Anyway, I think he should be a high priority. Depending on the money of course.

Patriots WR's are generally good Route runners who can get open Dorsett doesn't strike me as that. He had the Full Offseason/TC was relatively healthy and posted a whopping 290yds?? on a WR starved team. Gordon came in and supplanted him I am sure you know that. People here were clamoring for him to replace the struggling Hogan and the CS did it sparingly. I think they could resign him for very cheap but I would prefer a Draft pick. I don't see a Upside for Dorsett in this league.

You may or may not be correct about Dorsett's long term viability in the NFL, but the argument you're making is ludicrous. You know that, right?

The key for every WR for this team or TE is to have TB12 confidence if he doesn't have his confidence then it doesn't make a difference, as he will just not throw the ball to you.

Brady Trusts Dorsett, which is fine by me. I like Dorsett he does his Job when he's called upon.

The other thing with Dorsett is we ran a lot of 21/22 Personnel groupings this year, which he wouldn't see the field for.

Phew boy.

A WR cannot have 7 100% catch rate games if his route running sucked. Imo.

290 yards is more than what Amendola contributed during the regular seasons of 2014 and 2016. " he sucked "

Edelman didn't become a prime target until 2013. " ship his ass out of town "

Troy Brown didn't become a prime target until his 8th year here. " wasted roster spot "

Philip Dorsett doesn't suck. He's a solid WR3/4 who could potentially move up the depth chart. I think he will. He's improved every year here.

The comparison with Gordon is odd.

We'll see I guess.

Edelman
Golden Tate
Josh Gordon
Dorsett
The Experiment
Day 2 Rookie (who doesn't suck or isn't Damaged Goods this time, m'kay Bill?)
Two Day 3/UDFAs
Two minimum-wage vets (e.g., what Jordan Matthews should've been here)

Skinny little John Ross? No thanks, even if Bill has to resort to Plans B, C or D.

With how little we used him, I wouldn’t think Dorsett would have much interest in returning.

As tragic as this is, not counting Gordon who's no lock to factor into the team next year, Dorsett was our second most reliable wideout this year, behind Edelman. That's a good reason to be concerned about our WR depth but also a pretty good reason NOT to give up on Dorsett.

Ross sure does have a knack for finding the endzone. 21 receptions for 7 td’s. 1/3 of his catches went for 6.

Would like to see them kick the tires on him.

If bb needed a red zone receiver, sills from West Virginia would be awesome in our offense. Lots of length at 6’5” and nice catch radius. Mid round pick would get him.

If it's $4.8m split over 2 years then sending a late round pick over for him would be worth considering.

A little off topic, but Tyler Boyd would look great in a Pats uni. Classic Pats trade target.
