Passing of the tourch.

The torch that Brady holds is not for mere mortals. Those who try to hold it do so at their own risk. This type of torch doesn't get passed it, it isn't a torch that is based on one season or one signature play, it is based on a body of work built through years of dedication to mastering a craft and doing it with dignity and grace. They type of torch rational Chiefs fan is talking about is basically the season MVP award...the torch for mere mortals.

If there were any Jaguars fans then they probably would have posted the same thing after last years AFCCG.

Lol....what a thread

look that sounds great but I think Edelman is a top 5 WR in football and your defense and coaching is second to none.

One thing to look at is the Chiefs didn't have any games they were out of or had lost to a poor team. You guys had some head scratchers this year.

The sloppy Patriots you see in September is rarely the team you will see in January. BB treats the first month of the season like it's an extension of preseason. Experiment. Make adjustments. Ensure you win enough games to get the bye.

In the end, it really means squat that your team averaged 30 points per game. That your QB was MVP. Or that you got HFA throughout. Ultimately, the end result was no better than the Cardinals or Raiders. The Pats are the champs. That's all that matters. Nobody cares how they lost in Jacksonville or Tennessee. The Miami miracle is now irrelevant. All that is remembered is who won it all. And that's our Pats.

I rewatched the KC game last night.

Mahomes was really awful in this game. You might note that all the major plays by the Chiefs offense were dialed up, designed schemes with major yards after catch, and they were also aided greatly by phantom PI calls.

Mahomes also had the outrageously bad fumble before halftime that had a 50% chance of being 7 points the other way. He threw two passes in the fourth that were both fairly easy interceptions right into Harmon’s arms. One was knocked out by Hill and the other was just dropped. Both of these passes were floaters almost like the Goff SB interception. The three TD passes and 0 INTs were really misleading.

Brady outplayed Mahomes. I don’t put a ton of stock into the ESPN QBR metric, but I thought this might confirm my observations. Sure enough, Brady’s QBR was 8 points higher than Mahomes (81-73) even though Mahomes had a 117 passer rating to Brady’s 77. If I were a Chiefs fan I’d be less concerned about comparing Mahomes to the greatest QB ever and a lot more concerned about this performance. He was terrible in the first half, and he really wasn’t that much better in the second half despite all the points. I encourage a re-watch of this game focusing on QB play. Mahomes played like QB who was badly overmatched intellectually, getting way too much credit for great playcalling (like Alex Smith did too.)

Again I think its funny how people pick and choose a topic based on the argument they are trying to explain. I mean you don't play a half in football, you play four quarters. its like the argument I said to an earlier poster. Your a baseball player, you strike out your first two times up but then get a home run, a triple and 7 RBI's in the game and you still lose by 1 or 2 points. Your argument could be look you struck out your first two at bats but your stat line for the game is 2-4 1 HR and 7 RBI's I'd say was a good game.

Its like when people always talk about how many fourth quarter comebacks QB's like Brady and Manning have and I used to think it was one of the stupidest statistics ever. My thoughts were why were they down the begin with if they are so good. If you were a good enough quarterback for the first three quarters then you wouldn't need to come back.... So basically I thought the way you are thinking about Mahomes. Cherry picking what makes your argument work.

but a couple years back I finally thought, its a game of four quarters and it does not matter what happens in the first two or three quarters but all four. Hence you don't cherry pick what Mahomes did you take the entire game and he flat out is a better QB.

Brady and company is SOOOOO much better prepared and coached better its unreal and I will give you credit for having the best coaching in the history of football. But the torch has been passed just at the QB position. I think it will be a long time before it does as a team. Brady is still a good system QB and is a quality starter.

Yeah, you should watch the game again. Mahomes sucked balls, but mad credit to those unbelievable designed plays by Reid and that stable of pro bowl talent around Mahomes...I can only imagine how lopsided the game would have been if Brady had all the advantages that Mahomes had, including home field, superior talent, and much better coaching. Mahomes crapped the bed, and that was embarrassing to watch if you’re a Chiefs fan.

Brady won his sixth ring; Mahomes gave us a glimpse of his all-sizzle, no steak career theme that will disappoint year after year. Quite a tourch passing. SIX rings!!!!!!!!

So I'm not sure if you are joking or not, I mean anyone could see that Mahomes is a better player. Heck the dude won the MVP of the league this year so at least until they hand out the next one, he is the #1 player in the NFL period, not even my opinion, the NFL's opinion. Look you can sugar coat it and say this and that but Alex Smith ( who beat you twice) with the same players only had about half the production that Mahomes had with the same players.

Its hard to admit and it was hard for me to admit ( that you just have better coaching) but at least at QB we have the best, again torch was passed at QB but not at much of anything else.

Mahomes **** his pants in the AFCCG. Lol...you’ve spent so much time on here talking up a guy who threw up all over himself on th biggest stage. Can’t wait for next year when we get to beat that clown again.

Again, I will reiterate that you are talking about the torch as "the guy who had the better season (MVP)", mere mortals hold this torch. I think most people on this site think of it as "who is the best player to help a team win the Super Bowl", legends hold this one. Two different torches.

Regular Season or Postseason, Brady is better than Mahomes. The Patriots had easily a bottom 10 supporting cast on offense (skill positions) when you factor in Gronk Lite, Edelman’s suspension, Gordon with only about 5 peak games, Hogan and Dorsett likely being cut from other teams, etc. The Patriots ranked FOURTH in points scored. Fourth!!! Did you see the weapons of the three teams ahead of them? Chiefs, Rams, and Saints.

2018, 2013, and 2006, Brady still leads top 5 offenses despite having zilch around him. With other QBs, the pitchforks come out: Fire the GM! Fire the coach! He needs help! Mahomes will have that same challenge one day of trying to carry a way below offense on his shoulders. When he proves he can do that, you can start talking about him being in Brady’s class. Big picture here: Chiefs had an elite RB (most of the season), All-Pro tight end, All-Pro Wide Receiver, $15M WR2, Pro-Bowl Fullback, and two pro bowl offensive linemen. The Patriots has zero offensive players besides Brady who was all-pro or pro-bowl. On defense, with the way the Chiefs play at home (huge split versus on road), defenses were a wash if not KC’s favor. Chiefs also got multiple TDs on misdirection screen passes.

Yet who won the game? The best quarterback in the NFL outplayed Sideshow Bob badly enough to make up for all of these advantages for KC.

Brady-Mahomes Tourch Passing Countdown

The tourch will be passed with Mahomes doing the following from 2019 onward:

3 Regular Season MVPs (1 so far!)
14 Pro Bowl selections (1 so far!)
7 Super Bowl Championships
10 AFC Championships
5 SB MVPs
30 Playoff Wins (1 so far!)

This is going to be fun watching this tourch get passed.

Of course, there’s a strong possibility that Brady will smack Mahomes in all these categories for the rest of their respective careers.

I think you misinterpreting my comment, I didn't say the torch was passed as the GOAT, simply that the torch was passed from this time on. Big difference.

Again not talking about comparing the entire body of work and saying the torch is having to do everything he has done... that's the "goat" reference. My point is from last season going forward he has took the torch from brady as the leagues best. I mean that's what MVP means...

Are you seriously going to continue arguing with this troll? Why is this thread even still open?

The only body is the cadaver you've been storing in your basement you necrophiliac pos.

And let go of that poor goat you've been keeping as a sex slave you sadistic animal.

Now go stick the torch up your a**.

No, you’re not comprehending what I’m saying. Mahomes was laughably bad in the AFCCG. If you ever work up the courage to rewatch it, you’ll realize how poorly he played. You should be furious that your front running MVP totally crapped the bed and now he’s talking about a $200M deal. Tourch passed...lol!!!!!

So...you just swing by once a week or so and sealion the dead corpse back to life? Is that it?

Oh no....looks like Showtime won’t have the fastest receiver in the league anymore. Let’s see how those cute left handed no look passes work out now.
