The draft

Much rather have a good fa wr,or via trade. Rookie wrs don't usually contribute much. I agree with Reiss that Pats will go all-out to beef up wr position, utilizing everything, fa,draft and trades.

Deion Branch worked from day one in his first training camp.

What's the over/under on Belichick's WTF picks?

12 picks, will prob trade picks to move up or completely out into next years draft leaving us with around 8 or so that we will use this year. So thinking 2 for the entire draft, with an over/under of 1 for just the 2nd round?

Bethel Johnson's 4.38 was not quite there, but his career with the Pats doesn't inspire confidence in the speed demon type.

Randy Moss wasn't quite as fast as he'd been, but he was still fast enough to inspire confidence in the speed demon type, IMO.

Draft Deebo Sign Chris Conley and Patterson bring back a dedicated Gordon pair with Edelman and Berrios.
There's your WR corps.

Renfro seems like a perfect fit. He has played in and performed in big games his entire collegiate career. No doubt he can learn playbook and step in right away in 3 WR sets. I would gladly grab him with 1 of our 3rd round picks too fill amendola role.

Gordon? You’re going to waste time and energy on him? Berrios has shown nothing. Patterson can’t run a route to save his life.

Thank god it won’t be our WR corps.

Stephen A. is not a paid professional. He has limited NFL knowledge. He is a paid"personality" with a shtick. Big difference.
Reiss is a professional who has covered the Patriots since the 90's.
He knows far more about them than anyone here, lol.
He's probably the most trusted source for Patriots news outside of Gillette.
He's VERY plugged in and has the trust of TB,BB and Kraft more so anyone else in sports media. I've heard that from several Patriots sources over the years, including Bruschi.
He earned it by being a professional.
There's no comparison between him and someone like Stephen A., whose job is strictly to entertain.
Yeah, you do have to pick and choose what "professionals" you listen to. A lot of them suck. But there's some who are very good.
You definitely missed the point here. I'm well aware SAS is a zipper head & know the difference between him & a real pro.
The point here is you can be a coach & oblivious to scheme or who you're actually playing. You can have a TV gig & have no idea what you're talking about.

People see these "titles" & automatically think those individuals have it figured out. We give them way too much attention & credit.

How can you get on TV and say something like that? Has he ever even watched Haskins play? Haskins runs maybe 4 times a game, and usually when he knows he can grab an easy first down, but he throws 38 times a game. He also has all of 194 yards rushing in his career. CAREER. Over that same time frame, he has thrown for 5396 yards, at a 70% completion rate and a 54 to 9 TD to INT ratio. Hmmmm . . .
Haskins will get murdered next level if he tries to run lol. SAS is a joke & does a great job at saying crazy sh it. He's the Al Sharpton of BSPN. Probably watched 3-4 games all year.
I wouldn't put it past someone messing w him off air to make him look bad.

well, been watching the NFL draft for decades and decades so ,with that wealth of experience, THIS is what I think Belichick will do......

I enjoy the prognosticating. I never get it right, although I've gotten pretty good at figuring out the type of player BB likes: disciplined players with a strong work ethic and a reputation for knowing and loving the game. They don't all turn out, but over the years I've learned to adjust what I should be looking for -- it's not just the talent or athleticism, but the dedication and commitment that's important. Fun hobby nonetheless. ;)

I will be shocked if BB takes a QB high on the board. I will continue to say that the QB of the future is on this list: 2020 NFL Free Agents Tracker

I think filling Tom's shoes is gonna suck. Media and fans are gonna expect whoever it is to be great. Huge, towering expectations. I think they will sign one of those guys to a 3-4 year deal and draft a kid after that.

The Franchise of the future is likely in his senior year of HS, a PG year at prep school or a red shirt freshman in college. I just think they recognize the guy who follows Tom has to climb a mountain that is likely not going to be scaled. Bring in a guy like Mariota, Dak Prescott or Nick Foles and let him be the caretaker of the position for a few years before the Next Big Thing walks in the door on Route 1.

One issue with doing it this way is that you lose the ability of Tom to directly mentor the young QB. I think it's big for a young QB to experience Tom's greatness, approach to the game, approach to film, etc. in real time rather than Tom in an advisory role after he retires. That's assuming Tom agrees to be an advisor or QB coach or something.

100% agree on Murray

My ''problem'' is that i would like to ''test'' the young man before giving him a big contract you know? Like Jimmy, dude plays 7 games and break the bank.

I would love Fromm next year tho.

I would not mind to take a QB on he #1 round as i said i don't see a lot of blue chips in this draft, but i see a lot of good players. I think all #1 round talent will be long gone and we would reach for a QB using our #1 pick.

Round 1 Pick 32: Harry, NKeal, WR, Arizona State
Who would you take here assuming that Murray and Jones are gone?
Round 2 Pick 24: Hockenson, T.J., TE, Iowa
Round 2 Pick 32: Omenihu, Charles, DE, Texas
Round 3 Pick 9: Stidham, Jarrett, QB, Auburn
Round 3 Pick : Hodge, Kalhil, ILB, Buffalo
Round 3 Pick: Beckner Jr, Terry, DT, Missouri
Round 4 Pick 32: Biadasz, Tyler, C, Wisconsin
Stidham could be a steal. He struggled in college last year but only because he had a subpar offensive line and couldnt stay upright. look at the 2017 tape. He has a cannon arm
